| GameSpy Unveils a Collection of Next-Gen Multiplayer Technologies GameSpy, a unit of Fox Interactive Media, is introducing a new generation of tools to enable publishers and developers to encourage and enhance gaming communities around their cross-platform game franchises. "These new products accelerate the convergence of next-gen-connected gaming platforms and web 2.0 community features, and empower users to extend the gaming experience both inside and outside the traditional gaming environment", said Jamie Berger, SVP of Consumer Products and Technology for IGN Entertainment. A few of the new technology products that GameSpy will be debuting at the Game Developer Conference include: GameSpy ATLAS: This complete competition package allows developers to easily create an advanced statistical system for tournaments and competition within their games and Web sites. ATLAS can collect detailed players statistics from in-game play, enabling developers to use these statistics to build global leader boards, buddy-leader boards, competition ladders, sponsored tournaments and more. ATLAS also gives players the ability to view stats and ladders out of game automatically using GameSpy's Arena web service. GameSpy Sky Box: Using GameSpy's innovative new "Match Broadcast" technology, players can broadcast or view live or archived matches ? including live color commentary and telestration. Sky Box can create thousands of virtual channels from games - featuring the players themselves - and empower players to create content that extends the gaming experience to a whole new audience. GameSpy Teams: GameSpy Teams provides players with integrated tools and services to organize themselves into teams, clans and guilds directly from within a game. GameSpy Teams integrates seamlessly with GameSpy's other services, eliminating the need for home-grown websites or intimidating IRC chat. Players have the ability to send instant messages or invitations to all members of a team with a single click. Additionally, players can track team statistics, build team leaderboards and ladders, and view team information both in-game and on the web using GameSpy's Arena Web site. GameSpy Comrade: GameSpy has long provided developers with an easy way to build buddy list and instant messaging functionality directly within their games, regardless of platform. Gamers are now able to access that same functionality from their desktop using GameSpy Comrade. With Comrade, gamers can see their friends online, receive notifications when they join games and communicate via instant message - all from their desktop and regardless of the platform on which they and their friends are playing.
