| Focus Multimedia Delivers ER The Game Focus Multimedia announces the addition of ER The Game to their Essential range of budget software. The game is based on Warner Bros TV series screened on Channel 4, which currently entertains over 2 million UK viewers each week. ER might break your resolve as you attempt to juggle patients, colleagues and your own well-being in a race to become the best. Your aim is to improve your skills and be promoted through the ranks until you're top doc in the hospital. You play as the hot new ER intern. Create your own doctor, with options to set personality traits, looks and clothing. You can also train your character; in this case, there are six fields of medicine to learn about (Paediatrics, Toxicology, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopaedics and General Surgery). Whilst doing your job, keep an eye on your status bars for hygiene, energy and composure. Failure to maintain these will affect your performance, and once patients start dying, so does your reputation. The same applies to relationships with your colleagues. A friend for life will give you free perks, be more willing to help you out with complex procedures, or simply boost your statistics by being near you. The opposite goes for your enemies, who will watch you flounder and do their best to ruin your performance if they are in the vicinity. The actors Noah Wyle (Dr. John Carter), Mehki Phifer (Dr. Greg Pratt) and Sherry Stringfield (Dr. Susan Lewis) have supplied voiceovers for the game, and the character likenesses are second to none. The 3D environments, over 100 unique characters and 12 episodes of life and death drama give the result of a realistic and challenging game. There is plenty to keep any gamer enthralled for hours. There is a fine balance required in this game, which provides you with an ongoing challenge. You must sustain your obligations to your patients; ensure your hygiene levels are acceptable, and that you are nurturing your relationships with your colleagues. If you maintain a good balance, you'll watch your fledgling physician rise through the ranks of Chicago's County General Hospital, but if you let things slide, you'll find yourself out on your rear in no time. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Game News :: home page |
