| “Technology and embedded systems are a really important part of the race car” Each year the embedded world Exhibition&Conference in Nuremberg offers the embedded community the opportunity to obtain information about new products and innovations, enter into an exchange and to maintain and develop valuable contacts. Around 1.000 exhibitors are presenting state-of-the-art technology in all facets of embedded technologies, from construction elements, modules and complete systems through to operating systems and software, hard and software tools right up to services covering all aspects of embedded systems. Pascal Wehrlein, world famous Formula E pilot of the Mahindra Racing Team, will present the embedded award in the category Start-ups during embedded world Exhibition&Conference. The award ceremony will take place on 26 February 2019, 11:00 a.m., Forum Hall 3 in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. What is a Formula E driver doing at embedded world in Nuremberg, a trade fair for embedded systems? Pascal Wehrlein: Today I have the pleasure of being a guest at the Renesas Electronics stand. Renesas is the technology partner of my team, Mahindra Racing, and equips the racing cars with its battery management system based on its microchips. Technology and embedded systems are a really important part of the race car. How important is the contribution of technology partners like Renesas in Formula E? Pascal Wehrlein: Very important. The heart of every Formula E car is the battery system. The performance and range of the battery management systems can make all the difference in Formula E. Everything has to work precisely and must be technologically mature. With Renesas' expertise and our winning race team, we will continue pushing the bar for electric racing. You have successfully entered your first Formula E season. Congratulations on your podium finish in Chile! Pascal Wehrlein: Thank you very much. A podium finish in what I consider to be my first real race is definitely a good start and very motivating. I have very high goals for myself in whatever I do, and Formula E is no different. The whole team is doing a fantastic job, the car feels great and the first races show how competitive we are. We aim to continue that forward momentum. You've also gained experience in Formula 1. What are the differences to Formula E? Pascal Wehrlein: Formula 1 and Formula E are very different. Yes, they are both single-seaters, with the obvious difference being Formula E is electric, but the driving behaviour of the two cars are very different; there's less downforce for example. We might be a bit slower, but we're racing on street circuits which makes driving the car more challenging and also more exciting. What can we expect from Team Mahindra in Formula E this season? Pascal Wehrlein: We compete in every race to win. We have a fantastic working team and have also made a big step forward technologically this season. We are highly motivated to compete at the front in the championship. With 83 points we are currently first in the team classification and have three podium places so far. That's a really positive starting position for us. Photo: Mahindra Racing write your comments about the article :: © 2019 Exhibition News :: home page |
