GreenTech Summit outlines horticulture's future in 2028

GreenTech Amsterdam will open its doors again for the third time from 12 - 14 June. The GreenTech Summit will take place on 11 June 2018, preceding the exhibition at RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre. GreenTech Summit offers investors, growers, breeders and suppliers an unique opportunity to network, but primarily also to participate in a high-quality programme. Entitled: 'The future of horticulture – insights for the next decade' visionaries and experts will share their visions of the horticulture sector in 10-years' time. Speakers include Christiaan Kromme (author of 'Humanification - Go Digital, Stay Human'), new generation leaders in horticulture (Stijn Baan, Martin Koppert and Charlotte Langerak-Visser) and medicinal cannabis specialist Chris Walsh.

The Summit's programme consists of the following elements:

The morning features kick off sessions with:
- Dick Veerman (Foodlog): The competitive edge of our horticultural system.
- Ernst van den Ende (WUR): The secrets of horticulture in 2028.
- Mike Vermeij (BOM Group): Joint greenhouse projects to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
- Louis de Bruin (IBM): FoodTrust: How Blockchain technology transforms our Value Chain.
- Stijn Baan (Koppert Cress) & Martin Koppert (Koppert Biological Systems): The Next Leadership.

During the afternoon, participants can attend two breakout sessions. There are three subjects to choose from:
- The Next Leadership
Who are the new leaders in horticulture and how do they cooperate? How can technology support us in tackling production optimisation, knowledge exchange, succession and food security challenges? Featuring speakers including Charlotte Langerak-Visser (Viscon Group), Marieke de Ruyter de Wildt (The Fork) and Hajo Beijma (Singularity University).
- The Next Crops
How do medicinal crops such as cannabis influence the horticulture sector? What are the risks and opportunities of growing medicinal crops? Featuring speakers including Chris Walsh (Marijuana Business Daily), Mads Pederson (Alfred Pederson & Son/Aurora Nordic Cannabis) and Peter Verhagen (TNO).
- The Next Growing Solutions
Light, water, energy and nutrients are the basic ingredients for production. How are these elements influenced by innovations in greenhouse construction, materials and data analysis? Featuring speakers including Steven Newell (Windset Farms), Vincent Kickert (Van der Hoeven), Andreas Hofland (Hortikey), Vincent Deenen (Grodan) and Edward Verbakel (VB Group).

The day will be concluded by Christian Kromme (trend watcher and author of 'Humanification - Go Digital, Stay Human'). Christian will share his insights during his presentation entitled 'The next big wave of change in (Green) Technology'.
