| BVMed to support MT-CONNECT and MedTech Summit 2018  MT-CONNECT and MedTech Summit, the unique combination of trade fair, congress and partnering event, is receiving broad support from the industry. The MT-CONNECT Expert Committee has now underlined how important it is for Germany, as a production location for medical technology, to facilitate more networking between the various players from the medical, research and business communities. And this is exactly what the MT-CONNECT and MedTech Summit event achieves through its special and diverse range of solutions. "Advances in medical technology are highly dynamic and extremely complex. This means that users, researchers and companies have to work even more closely together. In this context, the trade fair and congress offer an outstanding platform, " says Expert Committee Member Joachim M. Schmitt, Managing Director and Board Member of BVMed (German Medical Technology Association).According to the Expert Committee, mid-sized suppliers in particular are looking anxiously at the new EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) with its much more stringent requirements on market access for medical devices. BVMed is addressing this issue in 2018 and is offering two sessions on the topic at the MedTech Summit. One will explore the challenges of the new regulatory requirements, and the second session will look at clinical evaluation and testing. The focus is on offering practical support for mid-sized companies. "The transition periods are extremely short. Companies will have to make preparations now to be able to meet the new requirements from 2020. Experts will be on hand to provide practical tips on how to achieve this in the two sessions at the MedTech Summit, " says Joachim M. Schmitt.
