IPB 2016 – new visitor record at Asia’s biggest trade fair for mechanical process technology

The 14th International Powder & Bulk Solids Processing Conference & Exhibition (IPB) in Shanghai closed with a significant rise in attendance, with around 7,990 trade visitors coming to Asia's most important bulk solids industry event (7,100 in 2015). A total of 142 exhibitors from 14 countries showcased their product innovations and presented specific solutions in response to the technical needs of the high-calibre visitors. The increasing numbers of visitors also show that the demand for innovative bulk solids technologies in Asia continues unabated.

"For end users in Asia, the IPB is the No. 1 port of call when it comes to finding out about the latest developments and trends in mechanical process technology, " says Helen Lin, Project Director IPB at NürnbergMesse China. "We are very pleased by the huge response and intend to systematically expand the IPB in the future. From 2017, for example, we are relocating to a new, more spacious exhibition venue."

Wide range of mechanical process technology
The IPB hosted exhibitors from 14 countries including China, the UK, Germany, Japan, Italy, South Korea and the USA. The companies presented solutions for the entire range of mechanical processes, from separating and pulverising through mixing and dispersing to handling and transport of bulk goods. In addition, the display areas covered topics like nano-particles, analysis and measuring technologies and process control.

The almost 8,000 trade visitors at Shanghai came predominantly from China and neighbouring countries. According to the details they provided, most of them worked in the chemical (27 percent) and pharmaceutical (21 percent) sectors, followed by mechanical and plant engineering (15 percent). Other key segments represented by visitors were the plastics and rubber and food/feed industries.

Supporting programme: know-how for professionals
The strong appeal of the IPB for Asian bulk solids professionals is due in no small part to the comprehensive supporting programme at the fair with its choice of more than 30 seminars and other events. Right on the very first day of the event, the organisers hosted the Shanghai International Pharmaceutical Powder & Particle Processing Seminar. Renowned speakers, including representatives of the Chinese Society of Particuology and the APV (international association for pharmaceutical technology) explored innovations relating to pharmaceutical manufacturing. Other seminars and symposia looked at issues such as explosion protection, particle test standards and bulk solids technology.

IPB 2017 will relocate to another venue in Shanghai
The success story of IPB continues: from 16 to 18 October 2017 the trade fair will be held in Shanghai again but at a new venue, the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. This ultra-modern exhibition centre emerged out of the former site of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China and offers ideal trade fair and congress infrastructure for the IPB.
