Cleanzone: International component reaches 36 percent

When Cleanzone concluded on 9 November 2016, it had drawn 759 visitors from 35 countries (2015: 734 trade visitors from 32 countries). There were also more international trade visitors than at last year's event, bringing the international component of Cleanzone's visitors to 36 percent. For the first time, potential customers who travelled to the trade fair in Frankfurt included visitors from countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Malaysia, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. Trade visitors were able to find out what was on offer at the stands of 86 exhibitors from 12 countries (2015: 78 companies and 10 research institutes from 12 countries). Many companies increased the size of their stands, resulting in over 30 percent more exhibition space than at the previous event.

A total of 103 participants visited the Cleanzone Congress to find out about the latest topics in the field of cleanroom technology, including new standards and guidelines, dealing with crises in production, and liability in the digital age. Topics such as Industry 4.0, talent development and how to identify good suppliers were discussed at Cleanzone Plaza, which was also the venue for the presentation of the fifth Cleanroom Award by ReinraumAkademie (Leipzig). The prize, which is worth 3,000 euros, went to the Adriatic Institute of Technology for its mobile cleanroom unit "Shellbe". The module, which comprises an innovative plastic construction, is suitable for use as a hospital, laboratory or infectious disease ward in areas suffering from crises or weak infrastructure around the globe. "Shellbe" is notable for its extremely high standards of hygiene for a mobile unit, and can be deployed in desert regions or areas covered in ice year-round as a result of its autonomous supply.

Exhibitors were very satisfied with the quality and international make-up of the trade visitors. Besides Germany, the most important European visitor countries were Austria, Belgium, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Great Britain, the Czech Republic and Spain. Cleanzone's trade visitors came from every industry where production is carried out under cleanroom conditions, including the automotive, semiconductor, aerospace, laser, optics, surface technology, food and pharmaceuticals industries. Decision-makers from prominent companies such as Roche, Sanofi Aventis, BASF, Bayer, Green Signal Biopharma from India, Lieken Brot- und Backwaren, Carl Zeiss, Infineon Technologies, Osram, Zumtobel, Murata Electronics from Finland and various university hospitals visited the trade fair in Frankfurt.

Trade visitor satisfaction with Cleanzone increased yet again. Approx. 88 percent (2015: 81 percent) were pleased with what was on offer at the trade fair. This demonstrates that the importance of Cleanzone as an international and interdisciplinary meeting place for cleanroom technology continues to grow. The purchasing authority of trade visitors also increased compared to the previous event, to 62 percent (2015: 55 percent).

Trends at Cleanzone 2016 include digitisation and the use of innovative new plastics for construction and design in cleanrooms. Three important industry associations also exhibited at the trade fair: Verein Interessengemeinschaft
Pharmabau 3000 (VIP3000), a group promoting the interests of those involved in pharmaceutical construction, Cleanroom.de, a group of firms providing solutions for the field of micro-technology, and Cleaning Excellence Center Leonberg, specialists in the field of technical cleanliness. As a result, the trade fair covered every area of production under controlled conditions.

This year was also the first time that the event included a workshop on "Airborne Molecular Contamination". Users and manufacturers discussed methods for measuring and filtering chemical contamination, a topic that is increasingly important not only for the field of micro-technology, but for many other sectors as well.

The next Cleanzone will be taking place on 17 and 18 October 2017 in Frankfurt am Main. In 2018, the trade fair will be taking place on 23 and 24 October.
