| Exclusive event programme of h+h cologne will get everyone in the mood for the new season From 18 to 20 March 2016, it is time to 'tank know-how and inspiration' again. Namely, that is when the international trade fair, h+h cologne, comprising of over 380 exhibitors from around 40 countries, opens its doors. In addition to the new products of the exhibitors, the industry's largest order platform in the world also holds an exclusive supporting programme in store for the expected 15,000 trade visitors again this year, which is full of creative ideas for the point of sale. For example, the big trend fashion show of the Initiative Handarbeit (Handicraft Initiative) will get everyone in the mood for the new season. The presentations are all fully booked down to the last place, when topical fashion and lifestyle trends are presented three times a day. Learn something new, pep up trusted skills, test techniques and materials - that is the focus of the workshops at the trade fair: Here, one can try out the carding (combing) technique for instance. Or: How to sew an oven glove with a padded and heat-resistant lining? And how to make a hand-made basket with a simple, graphic pattern using cotton rope and yarn? The special events of h+h cologne are also definitely worth visiting. For example, the Patchwork Gilde Deutschland e.V. will be presenting the results of the German participants of the German/Danish Challenge "My favourite block". The ISTA, International School for Textile Arts, is represented in the scope of the special event "Embroidery, an ancient handicraft" and will impress the visitors with new materials, new ideas and new creative minds. Dr. Marianne Herzog from Bochum is also an enthusiastic embroiderer. Her special exhibition entitled "Even finer is always possible", comprises of 35 small embroidered items in image format, all in French knot and flat stitch. She has made fascinating creations using fine fabrics, the finest yarn and the finest needles. The retired University Director of Studies whisks the observers away to a microcosm, small but infinitely far-reaching: She spends up to 50 hours on the "larger" creations that are up to ten centimetres high, she took six months for a black and white textile cube (30 x 30 cm). I knit, therefore I am... In contrast to this, "Lebenslustiger" is presenting extreme knitting using the "huge scarf" as an example, which demonstrates big, bigger, the biggest using over-dimensional knitting needles and huge wool felt yarn. People, who enjoy black and ambiguous humour and kitsch, are bound to love the knitted butcher's by Madame Tricot. The border between life and death was always a popular theme of the medicine graduate, who also attended the Ecole du Louvre at the same time to study the history of art. In this way, she has been knitting food, especially meat, since 2012. For the Schoppel Knitting Award 2016 the participants were called upon to choose items from their own universe, the body: Following the motto "I knit, therefore I am." 20 exhibits underline what this medium is about and invite onlookers to discover them with their colours, haptic feel, 3-dimensionality or flatness. Jury members from the art, advertising, health and business sectors distinguished the entries. Love to detail is also called for in the work of the Maschengilde, Osnabruck, and the "Garden of the Senses and Non-sense". Here, pieces of art of exceptional, inspiring design were created. Imaginative costumes crocheted and knitted stitch for stitch enable tree and garden ghosts to make a spectacular appearance. Furthermore, the textile designer Silke Bosbach will also be presenting valuable ideas in the textile area with "miniature worlds". These include creative headwear from a cheeky, small hat through to a fresh, fashionable hat made of the latest trendy materials. Ideas for the successful decoration of shops and shop windows will also be presented. Galarie Smend from Cologne will be showing "Traditional Textiles of Indonesia" - rare batiks from the Mevr Studio. Jans dating from 1890 to 1910. King Rama V of Siam (Thailand today) purchased several batiks of this kind on his journey through Java in 1895. The beautiful pieces of work are signed and were made using plant dyes. Have you crocheted the cathedral today yet? The trade visitors can really get to work at the German Fast Knitting Championships: Miriam and Frans Tegels will be offering plenty of support at the Knitting Bar. The title will be awarded on the last day of the fair. Beyond this, after the trade fair all of the knitted items will be processed into cosy socks for the children's home in Viersen again. The "International Sock Knitting Association Hechingen-Hohenzollern e.V.", which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016, also stands for activities for good causes. The diligent knitters are a fantastic example of commitment to charity projects. In addition, a huge tepee art project by Ute Lennartz-Lembeck will be on display again at h+h cologne 2016, this time it comes from the USA. But there will also be an amusing local touch: Have you crocheted the cathedral today yet? Angela Lehmbach, a specialised dealer from Cologne, and Solveig Busler live in Cologne and crochet Cologne - from Kölsch through to the jester's cap. With fast fingers and a wealth of creativity the ladies have created 24 real "orjinal kölsche" crochet models. write your comments about the article :: © 2016 Exhibition News :: home page |
