BrauBeviale 2014: design champions and innovations

BrauBeviale 2014: this year's most important international capital goods exhibition for the beverage industry from 11–13 November. Around 1,300 exhibitors will present an extensive range of high-quality beverage raw materials, innovative technologies, efficient logistics and sparkling marketing ideas to the expected 33,000 visitors. But that's not all! The supporting programme at BrauBeviale includes topical trend themes in the industry and the presentation of awards for innovations.

The international competition for the German Packaging Award is a welcome guest again at this year's BrauBeviale. Under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, the German Packaging Institute has organized an award for the best packaging innovations and received 230 entries from ten countries. The jury has nominated 61 innovations for the German Packaging Award 2014.

The nominated innovations also include three sales packages for beverages:

"Pierre LECAT" glass decanter from Stölzle-Oberglas GmbH:
The jury primarily praised "the design of the decanter and its execution. It offers full functionality and the product presentation is excellent."

"Nature Multipack TM" six-pack for beverages from NMP Systems GmbH/ KHS Group:
Here the jury was delighted that "both the packaging system and the printing process are unique in the market of the beverage and packaging industry. A flexible adhesive has been developed from conventional raw materials so that several products can be combined to form a multipack by using adhesive dots to stick them together. The six-packs for beverages need no secondary packaging or labelling material."

"true fruits juice" from true fruits GmbH:
The jury was convinced "mainly by the smart design in the form of a glass carafe. The design emphasizes the purity of the products. The large closure is simple to open and pouring the content into a glass is easy. The carafes are printed with high-quality ceramic printing, which allows a good view of the content. The whole concept has been superbly implemented."

Whether a winner of the German Packaging Award 2014 is also among the three nominated innovations will be revealed by the German Packaging Institute at a presentation ceremony at BrauBeviale at 14:00 on 11 November 2014. Supporting programme: packaging design, beer culture, sustainability
Beverage packaging also plays a role in the supporting programme at the exhibition: bayern design presents the Design Knowledge Forum at BrauBeviale for the first time. Examples of current marketing strategies help small and medium enterprises to successfully integrate design in the company. This special show focuses mainly on beverage specialities. The BrauBeviale Forum also deals with current packaging innovations and developments and challenges in the beverage industry. The trend topic "Culture of Craft Brewing" is covered in depth at the forum: Noted industry experts like Charlie Papazian (Brewers Association), Jan Lichota (Brewers of Europe) and Marc Rauschmann (Braufactum) will speak on the craft beer movement in the USA and the German market for craft brewing culture.

The subject of "Sustainability" will be examined in conjunction with the "Culture of Craft Brewing" immediately after the opening ceremony on the first day of the exhibition. Manfred Mödinger of BierConvent International e.V. presents the new guide to "Sustainability in Craft Breweries", which focuses on sustainable brewing especially in small and medium-size breweries. The forum also includes presentations on energy, export, brand experience and water/waste water. Another theme block deals with training in the brewery and beverage industry.
