| NürnbergMesse supports e-mobility NürnbergMesse starts the next phase of its energy campaign and is now devoting increasing attention to "electromobility". This will give exhibitors and visitors the possibility of charging their electric cars at charging stations in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg in future. NürnbergMesse itself is also going e-mobile and now uses the new BMW i3, a real high-tech miracle. So NürnbergMesse CEOs, Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann, are sure: "So far our customers know we can organize top-class events on e-mobility – in Nürnberg just as much as recently in Shenyang through our Chinese subsidiary. Now we want to develop electromobility more strongly in the company itself. We have given the starting signal for this today!" Electric cars are still a rarity on the roads at present. Of the some 44 million cars registered in Germany, the approx. 12,000 electric vehicles and about 85,000 cars with hybrid drive are still rather exotic. The future could soon look different, however. Rising petrol prices, more attractive models from the car manufacturers as well as ecological aspects and legislative requirements could ensure that perhaps electric cars will soon experience a bigger demand. A charging service is now also available for drivers of sporty little eco-cars in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. The new charging stations should also be well accepted, because they are equipped with "Mennekes connectors", which were defined as the European-wide standard by an EU law in April of this year. Walter Mennekes sees NürnbergMesse as a pioneer among the German exhibition companies: "We are delighted about today's starting signal for electromobility at NürnbergMesse! Also that they are relying on the original product, namely Mennekes charging systems. This emphasizes that both companies play a leading role in the respective market." Besides the charging station service for exhibitors and visitors, NürnbergMesse will now use e-mobility itself. For example, the new BMW i3 at NürnbergMesse makes it clear that today's e-cars are not just a high-tech package, but also look attractive. The BMW i3 saves a tremendous amount of weight with its innovative CFRP materials, which reduces consumption but still achieves a range of almost 200 kilometres. Ralf Schepull, BMW Branch Manager in Nürnberg, thinks the path taken by NürnbergMesse is exemplary: "The BMW i3 shows that it can nowadays be fun to drive with environmental awareness. NürnbergMesse is certainly breaking new ground in this segment." Also innovative in this context is the pay system planned for the charging stations: The Erlangen company sunhill technologies has made uncomplicated and cashless payment by mobile phone possible in future. sunhill Managing Director Matthias Mandelkow: "Our application for mobile payment at e-charging stations has created a major element that can make future electromobility available barrier-free, i.e. with full coverage and even beyond national borders." The charging stations located in three areas of the exhibition centre are operated by Harald Knaus – Der Elektroprofi GmbH, a contract partner of NürnbergMesse. The two CEOs, Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann, regard the "energy campaign" as a key element in the further development of NürnbergMesse: "It is only possible to combine economy and ecology by implementing specific measures. The content of electromobility fits in excellently with NürnbergMesse and offers our customers noticeable added value." A look at the portfolio of events on "energy" and "mobility" also makes this clear: Chillventa (14–15.10.2014), ALUCAST (4–6.12.2014, Bangalore), eltec (14–16.01.2015), embedded world (24–26.02.2015), SENSOR+TEST (19–21.05.2015), PCIM (19–21.05.2015), Automotive Engineering Expo (9/10.06.2015), CHINA DIECASTING (8–10.07.2015, Shanghai), EDPC (15/16.09.2015) and EUROGUSS (12–14.01.2016) in combination with the e-mobility events SAECCE (22–24.10.2014, Shanghai) and E-Mobility Technology China Forum (June 2015, China) of NürnbergMesse China span a broad spectrum covering the various facets of this subject. write your comments about the article :: © 2014 Exhibition News :: home page |
