Techtextil Symposium: new venue and new subjects for 2015

Techtextil Symposium is one of the world's most important forums for the future of technical textiles, functional apparel textiles and their numerous areas of application. At the next International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens (4 to 7 May 2015), the 18th Techtextil Symposium will be held in a new setting: in the middle of Hall 4.2 where trade visitors can listen to a variety of lectures in consecutive blocks. Additionally, Avantex Symposium will be integrated into Techtextil Symposium. Experts interested in speaking are now invited to apply to hold a lecture at the Symposium. The closing date for applications is 3 October 2014.

The requirements and expectations on the technology are rising with the increasing number of applications and the demand for technical textiles and functional apparel textiles. "We firmly believe that there is still much unused potential in these materials. To exploit this, however, calls for extensive knowledge of the technical aspects and an interdisciplinary dialogue", says Michael Jänecke, Director, Brand Management Technical Textiles & Textile Processing. "Therefore, the lectures should offer insights into new technologies, visions and concepts – for both clearly defined areas and potential applications."

The subjects: focusing on new materials and technologies
The subjects to be covered by Techtextil Symposiums are developments, trends and potential areas of application for technical textiles and nonwovens. New processing methods will also be taken into account and particular attention paid to lightweight construction, sustainability, (multi-) functionality and corresponding examples.

The following specific themes are planned for the Techtextil Symposium:
1. Smart Textiles
2. New Technologies
3. New developments in the field of protective clothing
4. New developments in the field of textile materials
5. New developments in the field of textile composites
6. Sustainability in the textile production chain
7. High performance textiles

Lecture proposals should be submitted via the internet at www.techtextil2015.abstract-management.de. All proposals must be in English. The lectures will be selected by the experts of an international programme committee.
