| NürnbergMesse celebrates 40th birthday: no sign of midlife crisis ![]() The reasons for the most recent success of NürnbergMesse are varied – but one thing in particular becomes clear: The trust placed in NürnbergMesse by some 27,000 exhibitors and 1.13 million visitors in 2013 is reflected in 174 trade fairs, congresses, public events and company events. For example, over 800,000 m² of net display space were booked for the first time in an odd year. The NürnbergConvention Center has set a new record with revenue of 17.4 million euros. And the worldwide presence of NürnbergMesse meanwhile extends to 109 countries, including currently 46 international representatives, five of them subsidiaries. The Nürnberg exhibition location also profits from this worldwide network, because it brings international visitors and exhibitors to the local exhibition centre and thus also creates noticeable added value in the region. "This has probably brought the metropolitan region economic effects of about one billion euros in 2013 alone, " says Dr. Roland Fleck. And this is continuing, as Peter Ottmann points out: "The key exhibition parameters for the first half of 2014 are also a real source of pleasure. In some cases, NürnbergMesse is appreciably above the figures of the respective previous events for the criteria of 'exhibitors', 'visitors' and 'stand space'. As things stand, revenue of about 220 million euros plus X can be assumed for the financial year 2014. Four decades of dynamic corporate development 40 years of NürnbergMesse – this also means that about 42 million people have visited the exhibition centre so far. If this number of people were to form a human chain, this could even encircle the earth once at the level of the equator. A look at the countries of origin of the visitors also covers the world: People from 96 per cent of all the countries in the world have already been greeted in Nürnberg during this time. Investment in the exhibition location is also considerable: Some three-quarters of a billion euros have been invested in the site in the past four decades – most recently in the construction of the new exhibition hall 3A. "Turbo" effect of new hall 3A Hall 3A has been a gain in quantitative and qualitative terms for the financial year 2014 at NürnbergMesse.
