NürnbergMesse starts 2014 with record quarter

Record start to the 40th anniversary year of NürnbergMesse in 2014: A look back at the 40-year history of the company shows more exhibitors, visitors and sold exhibition space in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg in the first three months of this year than ever before. Comparison with the respective previous events clearly indicates that this is a cross-industry development, which is extensively strengthening the Nürnberg exhibition venue. For the two CEOs, Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann, the positive quarterly figures halfway through their first period of office confirm the course adopted by the company, which foresees dynamic development of the NürnbergMesse Group in clearly defined fields of growth.

In the first three months of the year, the sold exhibition space at international trade fairs in Nürnberg rose by seven per cent, the number of exhibitors by two per cent and the number of visitors by an impressive nine per cent. The rise is even bigger if only the international growth is considered: three per cent for exhibitors, eleven per cent for space and twelve per cent for trade visitors. "Nürnberg is becoming an increasingly international exhibition venue, " emphasizes Peter Ottmann. "Our trade fairs profit from this, which in turn benefits the exhibition location overall." The exhibitions that were big attractions for visitors were particularly the fensterbau/frontale and HOLZ-HANDWERK (108,967 visitors), BIOFACH and VIVANESS (42,445 visitors) and IWA OutdoorClassics (39,244 visitors). The Enforce Tac (+58 per cent more exhibitors), EUROGUSS (+33 per cent more visitors) and embedded world (+18 per cent more visitors) exhibitions also developed excellently. "Our events are thus developing at a level distinctly above the average in the German sector, which AUMA, the Ausstellungs- und Messeausschuss der deutschen Wirtschaft (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry), states as a reasonable one per cent plus for exhibitors and space and stagnation for trade visitors in the first quarter of this year, " says Dr. Roland Fleck.

Besides the positive development of the individual trade fairs, it is also apparent that the new hall 3A has now decisively extended the display area for the event portfolio of NürnbergMesse to more than 170, 000 square metres. Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann see this as a key piece of the jigsaw for the future corporate development of NürnbergMesse: "The increased demand from the exhibitors shows that we have chosen the right path for the further development of our company. Ultimately, hall 3A is like a turbo for our attractive spectrum of exhibitions!" The 9, 000 square metres available in this setting have already been used in the first quarter for the Spielwarenmesse international toy fair and fensterbau/frontale. The new hall 3A will be used as many as eight times in the whole of 2014, the first year of operation. This new investment is therefore helping to ensure that the international trade fairs continue their success stories at the Nürnberg exhibition location.
