Europe’s largest hunting exhibition

Much bigger, much more attractive: That is the 33rd JAGD & HUND (HUNTING & THE DOG) exhibition running from the 4th till the 9th of February 2014 at the tradeshow premises of Westfalenhallen Dortmund. The exhibition is as comprehensive as never before. For the first time ever, hall 5 that was hitherto reserved for angling fishery will be occupied by hunting exhibitors. The subject angling fishery will be presented in halls 2, 2N and 3A for the first time as an independent subject under the title FISCH & ANGEL (FISH & FISHING RODS). Altogether, 748 exhibitors will be participating in both exhibitions (previous year: 724). The German champion in Deer-Calling will be determined on Friday at JAGD & HUND.

Once again, it is an exciting program on offer in 2014 and the exhibitors' offers are even more consistently structured. Exhibitors display their products in accordance with the focal point of their offers in the respective hall that is most relevant to the subject. Visitors are thus able to enjoy a far better sense of orientation.

Pleased with the development, Sabine Loos, Chief Executive Officer of Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH (Westphalia Halls Dortmund Ltd.) says: "With the number of visitors this year, JAGD & HUND (HUNTING & THE DOG) will be expanding its peak position in Europe even further". "In addition to the broad range of offers presented by the exhibitors and numerous other actions, it is even more delightful that the issue of nature conservation is not getting a raw deal in the exhibition." In the mobile "Rolling Forest School" for instance, children are already being introduced to nature – in the new special exhibition "Energy from wild plants", the generation of biogas from biomass is expected to be more closely intertwined with the objectives of wildlife, nature conservation and environmental protection – and proceeds from actions in the exhibition will be donated for nature conservation.

Amongst others, JAGD &HUNG (HUNTING & THE DOG) offers numerous actions in hall 3B. There will be a jam-packed program of attractive shows on the event area on daily basis. The demonstrations presented by the association of hunting utility dogs can be summarized under the title "Hunting dogs in action". On top of this, there are also the melodious hunting concerts by renowned sound-blowing corps and flying shows by birds of prey. There are also experts demonstrating the proper handling of motor saws. Interested persons may garner experience as front-seat passengers on a spectacular 4x4 off-road vehicle on a rugged platform running over rockers and cants or learn something about axle displacements. Reputable manufacturers will be offering their vehicles.

Majestic birds of prey such as owls, falcons, buzzards, eagles and eagle owls will be on display in hall 4. Some animals will float in the air quietly through the exhibition halls. Latest hunting fashion will be presented by professional models during a fashion show. There is also the opportunity of getting to know different hunting dog races such as pointer dogs, flushing dogs, earth dogs, retriever dogs, bloodhounds and German Brackes.

Launched by the hunting magazine WILD UND HUND (GAMING AND THE DOG) and supported by the Central Association of the Furrier Craft, the "International German RedFox Award" will be offered for the second time ever on the stage of hall 4 on Saturday. Particularly successful creations in the world of fashionable attires will be premiered. The award of the prize shall serve the purpose of boosting the sustained utilization of fox fur as well as rekindling awareness of same since the usage of only the hides of wildlife foxes that are killed with professional expertise is permitted.
Hall 5 will be housing culinary experiences. Germans are increasingly getting acquainted with the delicacy of bush meat while the consumption of venison from domestic terrains is growing. Roe deer is particularly witnessing rising popularity with German consumers followed by wild pig. The culinary marketplace offering varieties of wine and venison specialties will be a welcome break for visitors to while away the time. The special exhibition "venison" in hall 8 will be celebrating a milestone anniversary. Since ten years, professional chefs, professional hunters, authors of cookery books and other specialists of the sector have been showing elements that are worth noticing and everything else that can be made out of venison. Tasting is allowed.
All races of hunting utility dogs on record in Europe will be on display on the stage of hall 8. Over 1,300 of these four-legged creatures will be represented in JAGD & HUND.

Moreover, JAGD & HUND will offer a broad range of products and services for hunters on the platforms of the exhibitors. For instance, camouflage attires have become "presentable" in the area of clothing. This is borne on one hand, out of the necessity of wearing reflective clothing – even with camouflage patterns - and on the other hand, out of the fact that hunters are more successful in hunting several game species due to camouflage attires. Alongside this, the proportion of female hunters is growing continuously. Manufacturers are meeting this trend with a comprehensive offer of practical attires also for ladies.

Unusual products on the platforms of exhibitors in JAGD & HUND include for instance, heatable underwear for hunters or soothing Bach flowers for animals.
