imm cologne presents a wide range of accompanying events

From 13th to 19th January it will be that time again: imm cologne 2014 is opening its doors to visitors from around the world. What awaits them is really something: more than 1,000 suppliers from over 50 countries will be presenting their numerous new products and offering plenty of opportunities to find out about the current sector trends. The comprehensive range of exhibitors will once again this year be complemented by a multifaceted accompanying programme. "imm cologne is firmly established as a business platform. In the role of host, we will be supporting the function of imm cologne as a communication platform with an interactive accompanying programme. In this role, Cologne's furnishing trade fair is a driver of innovation and generator of ideas and thereby makes an important contribution to the business success of our exhibitors, " says Uwe Deitersen, Project Manager of imm cologne.

It doesn't get any better than this: in almost every hall a special exhibition, theme-based lounge area or special section with selected trends awaits visitors to imm cologne 2014 - when it comes to the accompanying programme, Koelnmesse has once again pulled out all the stops to offer visitors extra added value, in addition to the pure product show.

This creates a successful blend of product show and events. The so-called business events are targeted specifically at trade visitors. These include the E-Commerce Congress, which will be hosted during imm cologne for the first time. On 16th January, it will be all about the "Challenges and Opportunities in the Online World" from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the exhibition centre's Congress Centre North.

Anyone looking to establish new contacts abroad or strengthen existing contacts should head to the Global Networking Lounge in Europasaal in the passage between Halls 10 and 11. Here, Koelnmesse will be welcoming visitors and visitor groups from Brazil, Canada, China, Russia, Turkey and the USA from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Global Networking Lounge is also the venue for the Turkish-German Furniture Breakfast, which Koelnmesse will be hosting on 15th January from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. together with the "Furniture Club - Made in Germany e.V." as a supporting member. This get-together offers the chance to build contacts among company owners and managers from the Turkish furniture industry and Turkish furniture retail.

Furthermore, there are a whole host of events taking place over the entire week of the trade fair targeted towards trade visitors and end consumers to an equal degree. Among these is the spectacular design project "The House - Interiors on Stage" in the centre of Hall 2.2 with Pure Village: half visionary, walk-through home simulation, half designer portrait, this year designed by Danish designer Louise Campbell. Or the "Boulevard of Innovations", which stretches over a total of three sections in Hall 2.2, 4.2 and the passage between Halls 3 and 11, and shows all of the products that have won an Interior Innovation Award.

The series of events "The Stage" in Hall 2.2 is all about trends. In 2014, the successful presentation forum will again offer a wealth of informative presentations and fascinating discussion sessions all about the topic of design, with notable speakers and international participants. The programme is tailored particularly towards architects and interior designers as well as the furnishing segment "Pure". With "The Stage", imm cologne offers creative partners from the furnishing sector a central meeting point to find out about the latest developments.

One entirely new feature is Pure One - a platform for young design in Hall 1. In Pure One, Koelnmesse pools together innovative and tried-and-tested imm cologne formats to promote up-and-coming international designers. The experimental exhibition format Design Injections, for instance, showcases unusual presentations and projects by young designers and groups. Also on board: [Dł] Contest and [Dł] Schools with the winners of the international design competition and their spectacular designs as well as the talent factories from the international university scene.

The Sleep Lounge in Hall 9 will be dedicated to neuromarketing in 2014. The Fachverband Matratzen-Industrie e.V. (Professional Association for the Mattress Industry) purposefully selected this specialty and is looking to set an example against aggressive price-based forms of advertising in the furniture sector. The popular sector highlight, the party "meet@sleep", will be taking place on the Tuesday of the trade fair in the Sleep Lounge area.

There will be trendy installations in the redesigned Hall 10.1: the highlights from the major labels for modern living will be showcased in a specially staged trend show well worth seeing "Modern Living - Everything for Discovers". Here, visitors will find an expertly condensed selection of what the almost 60 exhibitors are presenting at imm cologne.

The upholstered furniture hall 10.2 will not only be scoring points at imm cologne 2014 for its preeminent exhibitors and attractive exhibits. For the first time, the project "Cosy & Crazy - The Mood Lounge @ Hall 10.2" will be located in a central position for visitors to take a break. Selected models from the companies represented in the hall will ensure a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. The new comfort zone is first and foremost a meeting point for anyone wanting to find out more about the influence of light and colour on design and furnishing.
