New cycling trends at ISPO BIKE 2012

ISPO BIKE 2012 will be held from August 16th to 19th at Messe München. Individual style and futuristic design, combined with alternative materials and traffic safety – these are the aspects of the latest bike collections for the lifestyle-oriented and demanding cyclists of the new urban generation.

Munich-based start-up Zuri presents a city bike handcrafted from bamboo. The stylish and sustainable bikes are produced individually according to customer specifications in Zambia, supporting the local economy. The Boo E-Touring-Bionx e-bikes by Boo Bicycles cleverly combine sustainable bamboo material with trendy design. The handcrafted bamboo-carbon hybrid frames are strong, unbreakable and extremely light. In addition, the BionX motor offers a 150-km range as well as speeds up to 40 km/h. The classic single speed bikes by Zippler also follow the alternate material trend. Old frames are regenerated with the help of sandblasting and ultrasonic bath treatments and reassembled with wood edging.

Moto Bicycles produces platform pedals made of wood, which are not only attractive but also ultra-flat and extremely light. Grip tape is used to create a number of designs and ensures additional grip and consistent contact with the pedals. The combination of sustainable materials, stylish design and safety of these pedals is an authentic expression of the current Urban Biking trend.

If you prefer an understated look, you will like what is offered in the sector of sustainable bike accessories. Jewelry and bags made of recycled materials in particular are trendier than ever. Urban Lace creates fashionable jewelry from old bicycle tubes. The eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind designs are made from recycled inner tubes sourced from local bike shops and set optical accents with their elegant design. The original handlebar bags by Beatrice Holiday are also made of recycled fabric and inner tubes. The handlebar bags are quickly converted into trendy shoulder bags, and are ideal for every type of outing.

The futuristic bike wear by Vespertine offers not only style but also traffic safety. The technical bike wear features eye-catching bright neon colors. The striking look, combined with reflecting prints, is perfect to keep you safe in city traffic. The all around reflecting bike wear is ideal for hip city dwellers.

Yet another futuristic design is the light system by Revolights. The revolutionary light system offers a new concept for bike lighting. LEDs in bright colors set powerful accents and increase safety in dark conditions. Half of each front and rear wheel is lit up with white LEDs in front and red LEDs in the rear. The light intensity of the rings increases according to the cycling speed. This stylish light revolution does not just increase the visibility of the rider to other traffic participants but also provides more ambient light for the bike rider.

The new helmet by Casco will also shed light on nighttime traffic. Thanks to a new coating the Urban TC Plus Helmet lights up in darkness and recharges in daylight without needing batteries. Streetlights and car headlights also recharge the luminescent coating, which increases the lighting capacity during a nighttime bike ride.
