Turkish Airlines and NürnbergMesse sign Letter of Intent

Turkish Airlines, NürnbergMesse and Nürnberg Airport have signed a Letter of Intent in Istanbul as the basis for strategic cooperation. The agreement provides for Turkish Airlines to be granted the status of "preferred carrier" for NürnbergMesse with effect from 2013. The two main partners of the exhibition centre and airport, the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Nürnberg, expressly welcome this development. The details of the marketing partnership are to be drawn up in the coming weeks. The cooperation advocated by Dr.Markus Söder, Bavarian State Minister of Financial Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NürnbergMesse and member of the Airport Supervisory Board, was signed during a visit to Turkey by the minister.

With Turkish Airlines as "preferred carrier", Turkish Airlines and NürnbergMesse are setting an example for promoting global economic relationships in the international exhibition business. As one of the 20 largest exhibition companies in the world, NürnbergMesse operates with representatives and subsidiaries in 95 countries. The strategic cooperation between NürnbergMesse and Turkish Airlines strengthens the link between Nürnberg Airport and Istanbul Atatürk International Airport as hub, not only for Turkey and the neighbouring Turkic countries, but also for the Middle East, Northeast Africa and Southeast Asia. Its geographical location makes Istanbul the intercontinental centre for worldwide business relationships and a global transport hub for almost 200 destinations served by Turkish Airlines.

Turkish Airlines has brought exhibition and congress participants to Germany from all over the world for many years. The airline operates direct flights to all large German exhibition cities. The international airport in Nürnberg also has excellent connections to Istanbul with two Turkish Airline direct flights daily. The number of international visitors and exhibitors at the Nürnberg exhibition centre has grown by some 60 and 40 per cent respectively in the past ten years.

Nürnberg Airport is one of the TOP 10 German airports with just under four million passengers a year. The airport has won many quality awards for business travellers in the past, including the "Best German Airport" award presented by the renowned Business Traveller magazine.
