‘Living & Concepts’ trade congress at Tendence in Frankfurt

Messe Frankfurt is organising the 'Living & Concepts. Strategies and solutions for success in the glass, porcelain and ceramic and furnishing sectors" trade congress in cooperation with the German Federation for Tableware, Housewares and Home Culture (GPK Bundesverband für den gedeckten Tisch, Hausrat und Wohnkultur e.V.). To be held within the framework of Tendence 2012 (24 to 28 August) in the 'Portalhaus' of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre on 23 and 24 August 2012, the congress is aimed at quality-oriented specialists, as well as representatives of trade and industry, from the German-speaking countries. Participants can look forward to lectures by first-class speakers and best-practice examples by leading companies.

The congress begins at 11.00 hrs the day before Tendence opens and finishes in the morning of the first day of the fair. Thus, participants can perfectly combine the congress with a visit to the leading order platform in the second half of the year. "Supplementary product ranges are becoming increasingly important for the glass, porcelain and ceramic trade, especially as Christmas approaches. Hence, Tendence represents a perfect opportunity for buyers to round-off their assortments. To provide additional benefits for the trade, Messe Frankfurt has joined forces with the German Federation for Tableware, Housewares and Home Culture to create the 'Living & Concepts' trade congress", says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence. In this connection, Gerald Funk, President of the German Federation for Tableware, Housewares and Home Culture, explains: "The entrepreneurial challenges facing retailers are growing in complexity all the time. For example, trends in the fields of politics, marketing and communication influence the way our customers behave. Hence, it is important that retailers are familiar with the latest mega-trends and, via lectures and practical examples, the congress will provide valuable ideas for shaping a successful future."

The first lecture will be given by Dr David Bosshart of the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute. He is the author of numerous international publications and much in demand as the keynote speaker for events in Europe, the USA and Asia. His talk will focus on the most important economic and social trends for the retail trade. He will be followed by Annette Mützel, a specialist for system, in-store and branded foodservice and CEO of the foodservice solutions concept agency and management consultancy, who will discuss trends in the foodservice sector and their significance for the consumer sector. The subsequent paper given by Ralf Bürkle will discuss the position of the trade in a world dominated by multi-channel marketing, apps & co. He is head of the communication department of Mannheim Business School and a popular speaker on public relations, social media and education. Additionally, three companies – BoConcept, Manufactum and Weitz Küchenkultur – will present successful best practices on an international, national and local plane. Rounding off the first day of the congress will be a visit to the Manufactum department store in Frankfurt followed by an evening event for all participants in the LOUNGE Frankfurt.

After a business breakfast, the second day will offer more highlights: psychologist Dr Hans-Georg Häusel of the Nymphenburg Group will talk about neuro-marketing and what the glass, porcelain and ceramic and furnishing trades can learn from mind research. Häusel is one of the world's leading research experts into the brain and marketing, sales and management. His book, 'Brain View – Why Customers Buy' was voted as one of the 100 best economics books of all times. The congress programme will be rounded off by a lecture on current lifestyle trends at Tendence by designers of the renowned bora.herke.palmisano style agency. The trend lecture forms the perfect basis on which participants can visit Tendence individually.
