| Tendence: All presentations, activities and ceremonies at a glance Austria is the Partner Country of this year's Tendence and Galleria 1 (interior decoration by designer Veith Streitenberger) will be the centre for demonstrations, presentations and performances. Young, authentic and design-oriented companies are taking part, as are firms with a long tradition and craftspeople. Additionally, there will be several events showing Austria to international trade visitors as a tourist destination, with art and culture, as well as wining and dining. Austria will also be represented in Hall 8.0 where four Austrian cafés will give visitors the chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the fair. They are Café 'Prater' (created by the Viennese design studio Walking Chair), Café 'Almhütte' (created by the Viennese design studio Polka), 'Kaffeehaus' (created by the Viennese design studio Landsiedl) and Café 'Heuriger' (created by the Viennese interior design studio Bindermayer). New 2011: Home&Trend Award As the most important order platform in the second half of the year, Tendence from 26 to 30 August 2011 has been chosen as the venue for the presentation of the new 'Home&Trend Award'. With this award, the LifeCare Initiative plans to honour consumer goods that are distinguished not only by their individual qualities but also by their overall concept. The award-winning products will be chosen by an independent jury of experts and consumers. The 'Trend Product of the Year' seal of quality will be awarded to products in four categories: 'Bath & Wellness', 'Garden & Leisure' 'Furniture & Interior Decoration' and 'Home Textiles & Decoration'. During Tendence, there will be a special 'Home&Trend Award' exhibition in Hall 9.0 (Interiors & Decoration section). FORM 2011 - Design from Crafts and Industry The German Arts & Crafts Association (Bundesverband Kunsthandwerk e.V.) bridges the gap between arts & crafts, industry and design with the 'Form' exhibition, which presents selected products from Tendence exhibitors distinguished by particularly high quality and imaginative design. The presentation offers an overview of the latest developments and innovations in the field of high-grade industrial and hand-crafted products. Fresh ideas and new approaches to design are to be found at 'Talents': the 35 participants of the promotional programme for young designers present their concepts, prototypes and first small product series in the Loft and Carat sections of the fair. At Loft, 14 newcomers will show their interior-design ideas in Galleria 0. At Carat, the other 21 young jewellery designers will make their presentations in Hall 9.3. Take off at Tendence – that is the aim of the young companies that have qualified for the 'Next' promotional programme, which gives young companies the opportunity to gain a foothold in the consumer-goods sector. The 'Next' participants will show their innovative jewellery creations in an attractively decorated area of Hall 9.3. Since being founded in 1992, the Female Designers' Forum has developed into an important source of new impulses for the design scene. It promotes cooperation between designers, industry, science and cultural institutes. The network stands for intensive discussions and a discourse aimed at putting the focus on concepts and projects by women. At Tendence, a selection of designers representing the entire forum present their products for the lifestyle and home sectors. The 'Material Revisited' exhibition spotlights the creative use of materials – as the basis or a source of inspiration. On display are works by artist who put new techniques in the fields of furniture design, fashion, crockery and tableware up for discussion. The exhibition will be held in the Museum for Applied Art (Museum für Angewandte Kunst) in Frankfurt am Main from 5 October 2011. At Tendence, visitors will have the chance to see an exclusive preview. The right communication and marketing strategies awaken customers' interest and create bonds of loyalty. Daily from Friday, 26 August, to Tuesday, 30 August, top speakers will discuss subjects such as jewellery trends, sales talks and production methods in the jewellery industry. 'Upgrade' is the name of the benefits packages for jewellers and lifestyle buyers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The packages include free admission to Tendence and use of local public-transport services in Frankfurt and the region. Additionally, participants profit from a starter package that includes an exclusive booklet of vouchers for services offered by exhibitors and partners. There will also be 'Upgrade' areas in Halls 9.2 and 9.3 where participants can relax and network. 'Upgrade Lifestyle' is making its debut this year. Last year, almost 5, 000 jewellers registered for 'Upgrade Carat'. Based on the design competition of the European Academy, FBZ Ahlen, this show will present pieces of jewellery from fairly produced and traded precious stones and other natural materials with proof of origin and recycled precious metals. On Sunday, 28 August, the Academy will honour the winners of the design competition at the 'Carat on Stage!' stage. The Philipp Becker area in Hall 9.3 is an exclusive meeting place for buyers of high-grade jewellery. Besides precious-stone expert, Fritz M.G. Wilshaus, other renowned exhibitors present extraordinary creations and unique pieces of jewellery. Visitors will find a variety of cafés throughout the Exhibition Centre. A highlight is Cafés 'Flowers in scene' in Hall 9.0, designed by Kim Phung Thai of Phoenix Flowers in Frankfurt. Also well worth a visit is Café Carat in Hall 9.3 C30, which is the work of designer Veit Streitenberger. Traditionally, Tendence is the biggest and most important order and trend platform in the second half of the year and is split into two main parts, Giving und Living. While Giving reflects the whole world of creative gift ideas, Living is the platform for the home, decorating and furnishing. From 26 to 30 August 2011, Tendence will present the latest trends for the coming autumn / winter season and offer a preview of new products for the spring and summer season of the following year. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Exhibition News :: home page |
