| Textiles Intelligence presentation at the World Textile Conference Textiles Intelligence's Mona Patel captivated an audience of more than 500 delegates when she spoke on the subject of world trade in textiles and clothing at the World Textile Conference in Mumbai, India, in May 2011. The paper, written by industry experts Robin Anson and Guillaume Brocklehurst of Textiles Intelligence, included a detailed analysis of some of the key trends in the global textile and apparel industry as well as forecasts of retail demand to 2015 in 60 countries. Between 2010 and 2015, retail demand for textiles and clothing is set to rise in the majority of the 60 countries featured in the presentation, according to forecasts from Textiles Intelligence based on data supplied exclusively by the Economist Intelligence unit (EIU). The fastest growing market will be China (up by an average of 21.7% per annum), followed by India (13.5% per annum) and Saudi Arabia (11.1% per annum). Interestingly, demand in these three countries also rose in 2009 alone - when demand in the majority of countries declined because of the global economic crisis. There will also be strong growth between 2010 and 2015 in Turkey (up by 10.1% per annum), Eastern Europe (up by 9.2% per annum) and Brazil (up by 7.3% per annum). By contrast, demand in Western Europe will continue to decline until 2013 - and only afterwards will it begin to recover. In Italy, demand is forecast to decline by 0.9% per annum between 2010 and 2015. In Germany it will barely grow at all (by 0.1% per annum), but in France it will rise by 1.2% per annum. In all three cases, demand will remain below 2008 levels. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Exhibition News :: home page |
