| Urban mixed-use projects on show at Mipim Mipim will highlight a number of large-scale mixed-use projects in its exhibition area, covering retail real estate, and residential, tourist and office sites. Whole neighbourhoods are now merging into the existing city fabric, featuring urban elements related to the environment, service portfolios and accessibility. The Hudson Yards project covers 60,000 m2 and is being built on the largest undeveloped real estate area in the heart of Manhattan. According to Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of New York, Hudson Yards will "be one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in New York." This mixed-use project has been carefully calibrated to create a unique destination where people will work, shop, live and visit. Hudson Yards offers a flexible mix of office, residential, cultural, retail and hotel spaces, as well as a public school. The project will also include the extension of the subway line 7, providing the site with access to every subway line in Manhattan. This project will be showcased by the American architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, and is developed by Related Companies (also responsible for Time Warner Center) and Oxford Properties Group. Schwabinger Tor is a tower designed to stimulate the urban centre in Munich. Developed by Jost Hurler Beteiligungs-und Verwaltungsgesellschaft, Schwabinger Tor will offer space for every facet of big-city life: living, working, shopping and going out, will all be interwoven in an ingenious horizontal usage separation concept. Thus, the lower floors will be reserved for offices, while upper floors will be used for residential space. Roughly one third of the space will be devoted to housing, spanning the range from classic family flats to luxury apartments. The latter will be closely linked to a planned five-star-plus hotel. Schwabinger Tor will be fully integrated in its urban environment, and it will also be setting ecological standards. The Zorlu Center is a US$ 2.5 billion project located on a unique site at the juncture of Europe and Asia and comprising residential, offices, a shopping mall, a hotel and a performing arts centre. It will feature two high quality residential towers, "Tower Residences" and "Terrace Residences, " which will combine outstanding location, and award-winning architecture with the city's finest entertainment, cultural and leisure facilities. Located at the centre of Istanbul's business district, the offices at Zorlu Center offer 20, 000 m² laid horizontally, enhancing efficiency and promoting a positive workplace environment. The shopping mall combines indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate nearly 200 retailers, restaurants, 12 cinemas and a children's recreational centre. The hotel will offer premium luxury accommodation for business and leisure. Finally, the Performing Arts Center has been specially designed to host Broadway and West End shows for up to 2,300 spectators. The Akademichesky mixed-use complex is located nearby the historic centre of Yekaterinburg in Russia. It covers 1, 300 hectares with more than nine million m² of housing and over four million m2 of commercial and social space. In harmony with the two 600-hectare forests which surround Akademichesky, green spaces are a top priority for the landscaping as well as eco-friendly facilities. In addition, the transport system has also been stepped up to optimize traffic, safety and comfortable access for citizens. In Qatar, Musheireb project aims to turn Doha into a dynamic metropol, promoting life's quality and contributing to the development of the Qatari culture. This 35-hectare project will stimulate the economy by creating a flourishing downtown, offering full facilities including a tramway, schools, retailing, health services, residential housing and hotels like the prestigious Mandarin Oriental. Musheireb is also designed to reduce car use and congestion, encouraging a "pedestrian" mindset and public transports use. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Exhibition News :: home page |
