Munich Fabric Start

The 30th Munich Fabric Start is ready in the starting blocks. From 1 to 3 February the event will be the first fair of its kind to open the exhibition season for Summer 2012, pointing the way with innovations and relevant developments in the fabrics, additionals and textile services field. In its concentrated and comprehensive format Munich Fabric Start provides a first major overview of the international range on offer from upstream suppliers and of the current mood in the sector.

It provides an initial scan on the new lifestyle trends as upstream supplies are still a key driver in fashion and are now finally heralding in a considerably more optimistic mood. Alongside this is a new lifestyle concept pushing collections that follow the "less but better" philosophy: sometimes elegant and chic, sometimes sensual and beguiling, at others clean, fresh and functional. So, awaiting trade visitors from fashion industry and retail in the booked up halls of M, O, C, is a tailor-made collection and service range perfectly suited to your individual needs.

International market leaders will be setting the first standards for the new season in the five exhibition segments Collections, Additionals, Blue Zone, Asia Salon and Showrooms. Collections here include Komatsu Seiren, Erica, Lyria, Schoeller Textil, Jackytex, Piacenza, Lanificio di Fabio, Forster Rohner, Dinamo, Bardazzi, Etro, Clerici Tessuto, Christian Eschler, Ploucquet Textiles Zittau and Gruppo Emmetex.

The Additionals segment features companies like Swarovski, the Gritti Group, YKK as well as the Cadica Group. Further information is provided by a professional range of services featuring specialist lectures and expert discussions focused on topical issues like sustainability and ecology, current fashion trends and textile software solutions.

A total of 765 exhibitors from 36 countries will be presenting creative high-fashion fabrics plus highly tuned woven & knitted fabrics boasting high-tech finishes also from the nano and bionic sector for new applications in work and protective wear. Worth special attention is the Blue Zone held on 1 and 2 February in parallel to the main event. With its new concept "Tomorrow is Today (TisT)" the denim platform at Munich Fabric Start sends out a clear signal towards the future. "TisT" adds a particularly creative kick to sourcing as, alongside Summer 2012, some pioneering exhibitors like Tejidos Royo and Isko will already be presenting their first developments here for the 2012/2013 Autumn/Winter season.
