Design Plus powered by ISH

ISH is the world's biggest trade fair for innovative bathroom design, sustainable sanitation solutions and environmentally-friendly building services technology. Over 2,300 companies, including all market and technology leaders from home and abroad, will be presenting their new products for the first time to trade visitors from all over the world at ISH 2011 in Frankfurt am Main from 15 to 19 March. In addition to an extensive range of products and services, the coming ISH will once again be distinguished by a multi-faceted complementary programme. In keeping with the main theme of resource conservation, numerous special shows, forums and competitions will examine questions relating to the ecologically oriented use of water and energy in buildings.

The three main bathroom trends for 2011/12 are 'Green Bathroom: Back to Nature!', 'Easy Bathroom: It couldn't be Easier!' and 'Bathroom Interior: Away from the Wall!' Visitors will be able to see these trends in the 'Pop up my bathroom' Trend Forum in the Water Lounge, where the Association of the German Sanitation Industry (Vereinigung der Deutschen Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. – VDS) invites representatives of the media and industry to meet and exchange ideas and opinions.

Outstanding products of ISH exhibitors distinguished by the optimum interaction of sustainability, aesthetics and functionality are honoured by the Design Plus powered by ISH award. Design Plus is one of Germany's leading design competitions and has been given on the occasion of various fairs since 1983. The award-winning solutions will be on show in a special exhibition throughout the fair.

Within the framework of the ISH Water complementary programme, the subject of sustainability is taken up and covered in depth by the 'Blue Responsibility' Initiative. Launched at ISH 2009, this campaign, which focuses on sustainable sanitation solutions that promote the responsible use of water, is organised by the Fittings Association of the Federation of German Machine and Plant Manufacturers and the Sanitation Industry Forum (IFS), and supported by the VDS.

Visitors to the bsw-Forum House Water Technology 2011 on the stand of the German Swimming Pool and Wellness Association will find a lecture area with lounge where they can look forward to facts, figures and lectures on drinking-water hygiene, energy saving and water heating.

Information about the latest developments and design trends in the German tiled-stove sector will be supplied by the German Tiled Stove Working Group, which is made up of representatives of the installation trade, industry and purchasing cooperatives. At their Tiled Stove Forum trade visitors and exhibitors will have the chance to meet to exchange ideas and opinions from 15 to 18 March 2011. Subjects of topical interest to the sector will be discussed in the lecture forum.

The focus of the ISH Technology and Energy Forum of the Association of the German House, Energy and Environmental Technology Industry and numerous partners from the energy sector and industry is on energy and resource saving heat production in buildings. For example, expert lectures and an exhibition in Galleria, level 1, will present innovations in the fields of heat supply that are available for use today and discuss current and future energy and environmental policies in Europe.

European directives, the 'Business for Climate Protection' campaign and modernising existing buildings are the main themes of the exhibition and lectures of the Air Conditioning Forum. In addition to an exhibition, the programme includes environmental-policy lectures on, for example, regulatory policy and promotional measures, and the Energy Saving Law due to come into force in 2012. The organiser is the Building Climate Institute.

Free themed tours for architects, designers, planners and engineers will take them to the most interesting manufacturers and special shows at the fair. These tours will also be available to foreign visitors for the first time at ISH 2011. The start and finish of the tours is the Outlook Lounge, where free beverages and snacks will also be on offer.

'Architecture today – sustainability as a competitive advantage for investors and architects' is the main theme of the Architects Conference of the German Sanitation, Heating and Air Conditioning Federation on Thursday, 17 March. The programme includes, for example, a brief lecture and discussion on the main theme and the 2011 European Architecture Award, Energy + Architecture, which will be presented for the first time at the coming ISH.
