100% Design Shanghai & IHDD

100% Design Shanghai & IHDD will take place from November 4 to November 6, 2010 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. The event, organized by leading exhibition organizers, Reed Exhibitions, will feature the top contemporary interior design brands in China. 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD have enjoyed two successful editions. The shows provide a robust platform on which exhibitors, design professionals and buyers can network and learn about the market's current demands for furniture design. Thanks to their sustained success and expanding influence, 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD have become popular among designers of home furnishings, furniture manufacturers and leading home décor product consumers from China and across Asia. This year's event will host over 120 well known local and international exhibitors. Among these, the majority of top brands will be exhibiting for the first time. The shows will also feature a wide array of activities and other highlights.

The presentation of China's impressive design talent to the global market will culminate at the DESIGNED IN CHINA: The Rado Young Design Prize. Organized by Reed Exhibitions and Surface magazine, the awards will be a stage upon which Chinese design works are presented. Of the 422 works initially considered, 12 will be selected for exhibition on-site. The top two prize winners will be revealed during the exhibition. Rado, partner of this competition, and staunch supporters of Chinese creativity, will present the DESIGNED IN CHINA: The Rado Young Design Prize at the opening press conference on November 4.

This year's event is receiving special support from the Czech Republic's Ministry of Commerce and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry, through a bilateral exhibiting delegation.
Crystal products from the Czech Republic are amongst the most prestigious in the world. At this exhibition, Czech exhibitors will not only show off high quality domestic brands, they will also highlight the latest design concepts of crystal products through this modern display. The showcase is sure to revolutionize the way many of us think about crystal.

Japan is as famous for its exquisite designs as it is for its traditionalism. At this show, Japanese representatives will not only display domestic brands with a long history, they will also feature new adaptations of classic brands and redesigns of traditional products.

In order to better showcase the application of high-end brands in home décor, IHDD has invited curator Jully Ye and KOKAISTUDIOS, the Italian design team behind luxuriant Shanghai landmarks like Bund 18 and 796 Middle Huaihai Road, to produce the "Art of Lavish Living" showcase. The exhibition will illustrate the advantages of the writing desk, a traditional and utilitarian piece of furniture for European nobility, in order to demonstrate the wide application of various high-end brands in everyday living. Visitors will feel as though they are entering into a magical space where the sense of a superior lifestyle and elegant art will be apparent.

To provide visitors with even greater value, the exhibition will offer 18 sessions and forums during its three-day run. As 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD are among the leading interior design exhibitions worldwide, the abundant discussions and debuts of upcoming applications are sure to be hugely popular. The newly released exhibition program includes topics such as the new Fall/Winter 2011/12 trends for home design, cross-boundary design concepts and the global design retail market.

The exhibition will also hold the Smarthome China Conference 2010, which will focus on pressing issues in the trade and allow industry leaders to discuss the future of Smart Homes. In response to two rapidly emerging environmental and lifestyle trends, Green Design and Smarthome, a three-day green design workshop, will be held on-site. There, visitors will be able to experience sustainable living first hand. The Smarthome China Conference is supported by IGRS Alliance.

Reed Exhibitions has appointed Michael Young as Creative Director of this event. Young, a renowned British designer based in Hong Kong, has worked with 100% Design for more than a decade. This time his cooperation with the International Copper Association (ICA) will see him display a creative installation made of copper, an old but versatile material. The ICA will also show off a diverse range of copper applications in a dedicated section.

By gathering together top international brands, showcasing China's emerging design talents, launching numerous on-site activities and highlighting new creative installations, 100% Design Shanghai & IHDD will not only give visitors a unique experience; for their duration, the exhibitions will also make Shanghai the center of the interior design universe .

Italian Apartment 2010 will be.a highlight at 100% Design Shanghai - bringing modern Italian lifestyle to China's doorstep. A unique platform to experience iconic Italian brands displayed in a creative setting. The intricate layout of the Italian Apartment 2010 is designed to toy with the visitor's imagination and introduce the flamboyance and atmosphere of Milan's famous "Fuori Salone"!

GIGA will be playing host to the event's exclusive green product exhibition, Green Décor, to showcase China's leading green material innovators. Partnering manufacturers recognize the interconnection between healthy materials and the viability and potential of our ecosystems. Exemplars of transparency, each manufacturer has invited review and ecological critique of their materials. Green Décor infuses knowledge with inspiration, sharing today's best ecological solutions while boldly stating collective goals and steps for a positive healthy future.
