Heimtextil 2011: registration status exceeds expectations

Heimtextil, the world's biggest trade fair for home and contract textiles, will be opening its doors again from 12 - 15 January 2011 bringing the international textile industry to Frankfurt am Main. The last Heimtextil confirmed its status as an essential date in the industry calendar to many exhibitors. The fair is an indispensable marketing platform for all major companies in the sector. Six months before it starts, next year's event is already heralding its coming with an extremely high number of registrations and exhibition stand bookings. "We have already reached 95 percent of the area occupied in 2010 and new exhibitors are contacting us on a daily basis", Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textile Fairs, Messe Frankfurt, explained.

The industry's major players will be in Frankfurt in January. For example, among the famous names for home textiles already registered are Kadeco, MHZ, Erfal, Rasch and Albani, Marburger Wallpapers, members of the Deco Teams and many international suppliers.

Sustainability is an extremely important theme for Heimtextil, which is why the Green Directory is being launched at the next Heimtextil. The distinguishing features of sustainable home textiles, compared with conventional products, are their high ecological quality and the fact that they are manufactured under enhanced working conditions. To enable buyers to find sustainable products and exhibitors with sustainable manufacturing processes quickly and easily in future, they are identified as such and summarized in the Guide.

In partnership with architectural publication AIT, Heimtextil will once again be focusing on the growth market of contract business in the "Let's have a look" special display area and designing the central meeting place for the hotel and restaurant trade, office, congress and conference centres, hospitals, care and rehabilitation services. Topical Contract Creations will be reviewed via lectures, special shows, competitions and much more.

Promotion of young talent, long a key concern of Heimtextil, presents the Young Contract Creations Award Upholstery with a new theme. This time multifunctional chairs and sofas are in demand, based on the motto "Sit and More". Students of interior architecture, product design and related subjects are called upon to design textile furniture, for use in the hotel trade for example. The focal point here is the interaction of functionality and design. This is the fourth time the Upholstery Award will be presented. It not only offers young designers a place to present their creations to the international textile industry but is also a source of new ideas and inspiration for trade visitors and experts. The promotional prize is awarded in partnership with publishers, the Ritthammer Verlag, and Trevira CS.

The all-round, feel-good programme Heimtextil Insider, which made its debut at Heimtextil 2010, will be available again in 2011. Speaking about the Insider programme, Ulrike Wechsung, Heimtextil Director, said: "Our advantage package for German interior designers has been an unmitigated success. At the last event, over 3, 500 interior designers have registered as Insiders and enjoyed the benefits of our programme. The feedback has been entirely positive. Interested German interior designers can already register for Heimtextil 2011 and secure an Insider package for themselves at www.heimtextil-insider.de. At Heimtextil 2011, too, a special visitor programme is planned for bedding retailers. "The aim of this promotion is to appeal to 1,000 bedding retailers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and extend a specific invitation to them to visit Heimtextil", explains Meike Kern, Director for household textiles. "We offer this key target group, which is important both for us and our exhibitors, a host of exclusive benefits tailored to the needs of bedding retailers, " Kern continued. The package includes, for example, free admission to Heimtextil, guided tours of the household textiles area and invitations to the event highlights.
