“TransBaltica” to focus on intelligent transport systems

On 11-13 May of this year the Lithuanian Exhibition Centre LITEXPO will host the International Transport and Logistics Exhibition "TransBaltica 2010", which this year will focus on a new relevant theme – intelligent transport systems and services.

According to Aloyzas Tarvydas, Director of the Lithuanian Exhibition Centre LITEXPO, the exhibition "TransBaltica", which is held every two years, brings together the transport and logistics market participants not only from our country, but quite many from other countries as well. This year in the exhibition there will participate 53 companies from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Kazakhstan, France, and Germany. The stands of many of them will introduce innovative solutions designated for fuel control and management, reduction of fuel costs, transport monitoring, planning of routes, management of logistics activities – i.e. what becomes an ever more important part of and necessity for transport business, enabling to increase the competitiveness of the transport and logistics sector.

This theme will reflect in the main event of the exhibition – the international seminar designated for multimodal intelligent transport systems, which is organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania in conjunction with the Norwegian transport authorities and the VGTU. During the conference it will be sought to analyse the prospects for the development of intelligent transport systems, integration of different modes of transport, to discuss the priorities of the European Union's policy on intelligent transport systems and to put forward recommendations for coordination thereof in Lithuania.

In addition to the mentioned themes, the exhibition "TransBaltica" will introduce various transport services: loading works, warehousing, terminals and warehouses, passenger and cargo carriage. At the participants' stands the visitors will find equipment, maintenance consumables, spare parts, machinery and mechanisms designated for filling-stations, car repair and service companies. Suffering from difficult times, the sellers of towing vehicles (trucks) for the first time will not participate in the exhibition.

The participants' expositions will be arranged in the LITEXPO Hall 1 and outdoor areas and will occupy the area of 2383 sq. m. The International Industry Exhibition "BaltTechnika" will be simultaneously held in the LITEXPO Hall 5. Entrance to both exhibitions is free of charge.
