Fruit Logistica 2010: Fresh Produce Trade Event In Berlin

Preparations for the international fresh produce trade event in Berlin are in full swing. Some 2, 300 exhibitors from 80 countries are expected from 3-5 February at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2010. The world's leading trade fair for the fresh fruit and vegetable business presents a comprehensive market overview of products and services spanning the entire fresh produce logistics chain. Covering more than 90,000 square metres of indoor space, the Messe Berlin exhibition Halls 1 to 25, plus Halls 1.1, 2.1, 3.1 and 4.1, are completely booked. The main exhibitors in 2010 are the European fresh produce countries: Italy, Spain, Germany, France and the Netherlands. Mexico, one of the leading fruit and vegetable producing nations in Latin America, is the official partner country for FRUIT LOGISTICA 2010. All of the nation's key fresh produce companies will be represented at Mexico's largest trade fair exhibit to date.

The trend toward concentrating geographical regions in specific areas will continue at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2010. Latin American exhibitors will be in Hall 25. Greece, Morocco and many other Mediterranean countries will be exhibiting for the first time in Halls 1.1 and 2.1. Fruit and vegetable processing machinery will be presented in Halls 3.1 and 4.1. More than 50, 000 top decision-makers from 125 countries will be coming to Berlin for the three-day trade show. FRUIT LOGISTICA 2010 will mark the 18th edition of the trade fair, which has been staged each year since 1993.

Representatives from the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection will join the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture for the FRUIT LOGISTICA 2010 opening ceremony on 2nd February (6.00 pm, Saal 2). Keynote speaker at the event will be Oliver Weidner, Director International Quality Management, Lidl, Germany. The 29th Fresh Produce Forum, which takes place on the day before the trade fair opens, will focus on the issue: "Top image but low returns. Does fresh produce need a relaunch?" Sharing the same dates with FRUIT LOGISTICA and covering 3, 000 square metres of exhibition space in Hall 1.1, the international trade fair FRESHCONEX 2010 will present an overview of the latest trends in the fresh produce convenience market. Outstanding achievements in all segments of the fresh produce trade will be honoured with the industry awards "Grüner Merkur" (2 Feb.) and the FRUIT LOGISTICA INNOVATION AWARD 2010 "FLIA" (5 Feb.).

FRUIT LOGISTICA 2010 and FRESHCONEX 2010 are open daily on 3-5 February from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.
