| HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will be held through 27-30 October in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year the fair, which is the largest exhibition of its kind in Asia and the second largest in the world, will feature over 1,700 exhibitors from 3 1 countries and region s . First-time exhibitors are from Hungry, Poland, New Zealand and Brazil. In 2009, the fair introduces a new zone called Hall of Aurora, showcasing over 230 quality brands from 23 countries and regions. Among the brands in th is Hall are renowned names such as Philips, Osram, MEGAMAN, Neo-Neon, Citizen, Royal Doulton, Bright, CREE, Wever & Ducré, A.A.G. Stucchi, Searchlight International. At the conclusion of last year's fair, Managing Director of Elstead Lighting Ltd., United Kingdom, said, "The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair was the fair to launch Elstead Lighting into the global market. Having travelled to all of the major shows around the world, we chose Hong Kong as our launchpad, because the fair ranks no. 2 of its kind in the world, has a superb location and attracts most key buyers in the world. During the event, we connected with more than 100 buyers from 45 countries. Overall, the experience of being in Hong Kong, the reception and help from the organiser, and the customers we met all exceeded our expectations." In the Autumn Edition, the LED Lighting Zone aims to advance the progress of green lighting. The zone occupies over 10,000 square metres and showcases over 390 LED companies from Belize, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and the United Kingdom. At the 2008 fair, buyer Federico Ariel Palacio, G eneral M anager of Palacio Ilumina, Argentina, stated, "This fair is ideal for us to see new products as well as catch up on new ideas and trends. We are particularly impressed with the extra bright LED technology that is on show this season as we are constantly on the lookout for more energy-efficient products for indoor use that are also versatile and more cost effective. I have been coming to this fair since its inception and the quality of exhibitors gets better each year. I am very impressed by their capabilities and their ability to stay ahead of the technological curve." With increasing concern on global warming and a focus on energy-efficient lighting, many countries and regions are eliminating incandescent lighting and developing new lighting products. Two events, 'Green Lighting Technology - CCFL' (October 27) and Symposium on 'LED Lighting – Applications and Standardization' (October 29), will gather exhibitors, trade buyers, and international media under one roof, communicating and building relations in a congenial environment. Experts from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Asia will provide insights into solid state lighting and current lighting market trends.
