| Anuga Executive Summit: Corporate Social Responsibility In keeping with tradition, Anuga is presenting a highlight with its opening event on the evening before the fair begins - the Anuga Executive Summit, which features renowned participants from around the world. The leading food industry managers gather in Cologne during the run-up to the sector's largest and most important trade fair not only to establish their positions concerning the summit's theme but also to discuss future scenarios and strategies. No other supporting event better emphasises Anuga's special function and importance for the worldwide food business. In Alain Caparros, CEO REWE Group, Germany; and Matthias Berninger, Global Head of Public Policy, Mars Inc.; the Anuga organizers have once again succeeded in attracting two outstanding figures as speakers for the high-profile event. The theme for 2009 is "Corporate social responsibility". Anuga's opening event is being organized and presented by the Bundesverband des Deutschen Lebensmittelhandels e.V. (BVL - Federal Association of the German Retail Grocery Trade), Berlin; the Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Ernährungsindustrie e.V. (BVE - Federation of German Food and Drink Industries), Berlin; The Consumer Goods Forum, Paris (formerly CIES); and Koelnmesse. The congress will take place on 9th October 2009 in the "Theater am Tanzbrunnen", which is located right next to the Cologne exhibition centre. The starting time is 6:00 p.m. Around 400 guests from Germany and abroad are expected to attend the Anuga opening event. A focus on sharing responsibility Social commitment as an obligation of the trade and industry A long-term corporate strategy includes not only clear business visions and goals. The companies know that today it is not only their financial results that are in the public eye, but also their actions as members of society. This is why trading and industrial companies are increasingly taking responsibility for the effects their activities have on the environment, on consumers, on employees and on society as a whole. They know that they can fulfil their social responsibility only by working together to master this challenge. This understanding is opening up areas of cooperation among companies, but not opportunities for competitive positioning. What are the leading companies in the trade and industry doing today for the well-being of our planet and humanity? How are they protecting our limited natural resources? And how are these efforts being integrated in the companies' business strategies? The Anuga Executive Summit offers the top managers from the world's leading trading and industrial companies a forum for the discussion of current trends and strategic approaches to the issues of the future. The sector gathering to follow the congress offers the Anuga 2009 partner country an opportunity to present its strengths in the form of a culinary highlight. Turkish celebrity TV chef Serkan Bozkurt, who has made a name for himself beyond Turkey's borders with his innovative interpretation of traditional Turkish cuisine, will offer the Anuga Executive Summit guests a chance to discover the tasty delights of contemporary Turkish culinary culture.
