| Wine & Gourmet Asia German trade fairs organizer Koelnmesse and the Macau Trade and Investment Institute (IPIM), organizers of Wine & Gourmet Asia (WGA) and MIF, are certain that the cooperation will be successful. Around 100 exhibitors will be showcasing the best of fine food, wine and foodservice equipment at WGA, to be held 22-24 October 2009 in Hall C of the Cotai Strip CotaiExpo . M.I.F will be held 22-25 October in Halls A and B. Visitors can maximize their trip by visiting two shows at the same time. M.I.F is the largest and most important trade and investment event for business sectors who want to establish themselves in Macau or use Macau as a gateway to the South China market; while Wine & Gourmet Asia is the only professional niche event for the fine food, wine and hospitality industry targeting the Greater China and its neighboring Asian markets. Wine & Gourmet Asia will further enrich the content of M.I.F as it focuses on the booming hospitality sector. A successful cooperation Holding the two shows under the same roof at the same time has allowed both organizers to tap into each other's resources to grow the shows. Besides a close collaboration in terms of marketing efforts, IPIM is also supporting the new Hosted Wine Buyers Program. Under the Hosted Wine Buyers Program, buyers enjoy complimentary accommodation and subsidized travel costs to Macau. With the current pressure on expenditure, this program assists serious buyers to maximize their purchasing budgets. Michael Dreyer, Vice President Asia Pacific of Koelnmesse says, "The current global economic slowdown has inevitably affected Macau but its overall economy is stable. There is still strong potential for growth in the region's hospitality industry and the exhibitors' take-up testifies to that. The Macau government has launched several initiatives to promote international trade fairs and boost the MICE industry. We expect Wine & Gourmet Asia 2009 to be another year of success, especially with the co-location with MIF." He added, "Wine & Gourmet Asia is a major hospitality business platform for Macau and the region. Our aim is to gather the industry and to showcase Macau's capabilities in this area. As with previous years, we will be working together with top establishments such as City of Dreams, Sands, The Venetian Macao and Wynn Macao to present epicurean dining events." What to expect at Wine & Gourmet Asia 2009? Wines are the focus at Wine & Gourmet Asia 2009. The trade fair will showcase major wine producers from around the world as well as present several wine programs. Wine professionals and aficionados can take part in the new Charity Silent Bid of rare vintages and learn more about wines at the many wine tasting seminars. Wine buyers can even take advantage of the first Wine Buyers Program where they are hosted with accommodation and transportation during the trade fair. The wine buyers program is co-organized with the Wine Society of Macau whose established network with the regional wine industry will bring in quality buyers for the many wine exhibitors. Five country pavilions for the three-year-old trade show will be exhibiting, including new pavilions from Korea and Spain; and return groups from Australia, Portugal and Singapore. The Portugal group will be exhibiting for the second time with a pavilion twice the size of that last year. The organizer of the Portugal pavilion said, "All our exhibitors were very satisfied, I would definitely recommend Wine & Gourmet Asia as a trade show to attend." The new Spanish pavilion is represented by the region of Aragon whose excellent climatic and soil conditions produce high quality wines. Many exhibitors are back for the second or third time such as Macau Industrial LDA which is a major distributor of beverages such as Coca Cola and Nestle Professional, and Seapower which is the biggest spirits and wine distributor in Macau. Seapower has expanded its presence on the exhibition floor, taking up 50% more space than last year to present their wide variety of fine wines and liquors. It also continues its dedicated support for the Asian Cocktail Championship by sponsoring products and prizes. Asian Cocktail Championship is the only international bartending competition in Macau. Over 100 competitors from Asia are expected to congregate at Wine & Gourmet Asia, highlighting the importance of the cocktail culture in the wine and dine industry. The newly established Association of Bartenders and Sommeliers Macau will help bring in more local contestants to give more recognition to bartenders in Macau. Besides winemakers, wine distributors and retailers, there will also be a wine trading center at Wine & Gourmet Asia. Exhibiting for the first time, Banny Wines Cellar which is Macau's largest red wine trading center will assist those interested in wine investment. Wine & Gourmet Asia is truly a comprehensive professional event covering all aspects of wine and gourmet. Wine & Gourmet Asia is more than just a trade exhibition; it provides a platform to honor hospitality professionals. Besides the Asian Cocktail Championship, the MORS Gold Pin competition and the Macau Culinary Association Winning Showpiece Display will be held in conjunction with the trade fair. Wine & Gourmet Asia 2009 promises to be a dazzling highlight in the events calendar of Macau. The public can look forward to a series of epicurean dining events organized by partner establishments such as City of Dreams, Sands Macao, The Venetian Macao and Wynn Macao. Wine & Gourmet Asia is organized by Koelnmesse, organizer of the world's largest food trade show, ANUGA, and is supported by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Macau Government Tourist Office, China Hong Kong Bartender's Association, Institute of Tourism Studies, Macau Culinary Alliance, Wine Society of Macau, Macau Frozen Meat Association, General Merchandise Canned Goods & Wine Merchants' Guild and Hong Kong Chefs Association. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Exhibition News :: home page |
