To be held September 14-17 in Rome, Italy, Eurodisplay 2009 will bring together the best and brightest minds in academia and industry from around the globe to further the science of display technology. "Innovations in display technology promise to create opportunities for economic growth in the coming years. Eurodisplay provides the ideal forum to learn about the latest developments in display research, technology and applications, " stated Jyrki Kimmel, general chair of Eurodisplay 2009. "We encourage all those engaged in advancing the science of displays to participate and share their experiences and knowledge with like-minded colleagues at the forefront of display innovations." Eurodisplay 2009 will kick off on September 14 with a one-day workshop featuring seminars on a variety of topics critical to display manufacturing and commercialization, from efforts to make displays more environmentally friendly to new display materials and other trends, as well as updates on a multitude of display technologies-including liquid crystal displays (LCDs), as well as plasma, flexible and 3-D displays. Presenting organizations include many of the industry's leading manufacturers and academic institutions dedicated to the innovation of displays, such as Philips Research, Merck KGaA, Panasonic and the University of Edinburgh, to name a few. Following the workshop will be a three-day symposium that will run from September 15-17 and feature keynote and plenary speakers from leading authorities on display technology. Kari Kulojärvi, vice president of research and development at Nokia, will deliver the keynote address on September 15 on displays as the window to the mobile Internet.
