| The International ICT Services and Solutions Trade Fair Two prestigious international gurus from the ICT industry, Nicholas Carr and Howard Rheingold, alongside the well-known Spanish lecturer and blogger, Enrique Dans, will take part in the main conference programme presented at SIMO Network, the International ICT Services and Solutions Trade Fair, an event organised by IFEMA that is due to take place between 22nd and 24th September at FERIA DE MADRID. Coordinated by Instituto de Empresa (IE), the conference programme will be one of the key attractions at this edition, focusing on some of the latest technological trends. The first day of the conference programme will take place on 22nd September under the heading "Technology at Companies: New Environments, New Visions". Throughout the first day, the participants will define the new technological environment, which is characterised by the transformation of many products into services, based on what is known as the transition towards "cloud computing". The first session of the day will be presented by Nicholas Carr, author of the book entitled "The Big Switch", which is considered by many to be the most influential work regarding the shift towards "cloud computing". Nick Carr will be presented by Sebastián Muriel, the Managing Director of Red.es. On the first day the participants will also discuss the crisis and how the current economic climate should encourage companies to innovative more in terms of technology. They will also discuss "Green IT" and other trends within the industry, such as the virtualisation of data centres. Cutting-edge companies in these areas will describe their experiences to those attending the conference. In this respect, three roundtables will be organised: "The Cloud and Its Implications: Where Is Corporate Computing Going?", featuring the participation of Microsoft, Sap, Google, Oracle and HP; "IT: Innovation and Crisis", featuring the participation of Sage, Telefónica and Everis; and "Green IT/Virtualisation: Trends in Data Centre Management", based on the participation of VMWare, Microsoft and HP. The general theme for the second day of the conference programme, which will take place on 23rd September, will be "Digital Convergence: New Businesses, New Markets". The day will begin with a paper on "The Impact of Web 2.0 on the Business Environment", presented by Enrique Dans, the well-known blogger and lecturer at the Business Institute, who has also coordinated the conference programme. This part of the programme will focus on the development of new Internet scenarios and on how to evolve towards new and more participative formats on the Internet thanks to tools such as blogs, microblogs and social networks, all of which offer multiple possibilities to companies. The participants will analyse how companies should react within this environment and debate the importance of social networks, the phenomenon of data portability and the social recommendation systems that companies use in order to offer their products to customers. The participants at the conference will also tackle the interaction between new applications and new devices. Furthermore, the company, Strands, will tackle the topic "Digital Convergence: Data Portability". Subsequently, a roundtable will take place on "Social Networks and Devices: Examples of Convergence", featuring the participation of representatives from Facebook, Tuenti, Nokia and Apple Esfera. The paper on the third and last day of the conference programme, namely 24th September, will be delivered by Howard Rheingold, the mobility guru. This US journalist devoted to the world of information technology specialises in virtual communities. His contribution will be introduced by a representative from Vodafone. The last day of the programme will focus on the theme of "Mobility as a Technological Key". In this respect, the participants will tackle aspects such as mobile applications and platforms, as well as their consequences and the opportunities that mobility is able to offer SME's, not to mention the netbook phenomenon.
