Job Seekers Join forum3’s Events Team

forum3, the UK's largest not-for-profit career fair, is working with the London Development Agency and the Learning and Skills Council's Personal Best Programme to help people aged 16+ who are furthest away from the job market to gain the skills and confidence they need to find employment. forum3 is attended by the world's best known charities and thousands of visitors will assemble at London's Business Design Centre in Islington between September 10 -11.

The experience of working as part of the team on this large-scale event will provide the volunteers with skills and experience, and give them many opportunities to meet the hundreds of potential employers attending.

"We want to help put an end to the Catch-22 situation faced by many people who don't have the experience they need to apply for their ideal careers, " said Deborah Hockham, director, forum3. "Personal Best is a programme that helps build confidence and industry connections for job seekers. For the first time at forum3 this year, we're expanding our own events team to involve individuals who have the energy and drive to contribute to a great event, although before now they might never have had the opportunity."

Kate Farrar, a Personal Best Advisor at The City of Westminster College was positive about the impact this experience will have on the participants. "Working within a team that puts together an event for 12, 000 people is like diving in the deep end. It's exciting and inspirational as well as a great learning experience. Our participants will work side-by-side with the experienced forum3 staff to make this a fantastic event and something that can help them kick start their careers."

Personal Best is a pre-employment programme aimed at ages 16+, funded through London Development Agency and the Learning Skills Council. Free to participants the programme is a personalised service to act as a stepping stone into new work, training or education opportunities.
