| Sinaval-eurofishing 2009 The industry has responded well to the SINAVAL-EUROFISHING 2009 shipping, maritime, port and fisheries fair, which is to take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre on April 21-24: 330 firms from 23 countries are to take part in the event, which this year features more technical seminars, meetings and other activities than ever before. In all, there will be 25 side events, including such attractive prospects as the International Offshore Industry Seminar, the Future Port International Brokerage Meeting, the Annual Conference and Governing Board Meeting of CIRM (Comité International Radio-Maritime), the centenary of the La Naval shipyard in Sestao, the General Assembly of the Spanish Maritime Cluster and further additions of the International Shipping Meetings brokerage event. These events represent the latest actions by the shipping industry in general, and the Basque shipping industry in particular, in the context of the Basque Maritime Forum and ADIMDE, two organisations which have been determinant in the 36-year history of these fairs. The organisers of SINAVAL-EUROFISHING have worked with the Basque Maritime Forum to develop special programmes to attract visitors in co-operation with ICEX (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade), the Basque Government and the Norwegian Consulate in Spain. Over the course of four days, SINAVAL-EUROFISHING will provide a commercial showcase for the latest developments, technologies and services of the most representative companies in the relevant fields, from 23 countries. Apart from Spain, the countries with the largest number of representatives will be Germany, the UK, Norway, the USA, the Netherlands and France, though exhibition hall 1 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre will also feature products from Japan, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Greece, Canada and elsewhere. The main sectors covered by the exhibition will be propulsion, shipping electronics, shipyards and ancillary industries. The campaign to attract visitors to this year's SINAVAL-EUROFISHING fair has focused mainly on quality, and a large number of ship-owners and heads of purchasing from shipyards and ancillary industries have confirmed that they will be attending. The campaign has focused on India, Turkey, Russia and Norway, though efforts have also been made in many other countries including Germany, Algeria, Chile, Croatia, Cuba, France, the Netherlands, Libya, Morocco, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the Czech Republic, Cape Verde, Tunisia and Venezuela. The Basque Government Ministry of Fisheries, the Federation of Fishermen's Guilds of Vizcaya and Guipúzcoa and other Basque fishing associations such as Oppao and Anabac have all worked on a programme to attract inshore, offshore and deep sea vessel owners. The programme of seminars and side events at SINAVAL-EUROFISHING 2009 provides an attractive meeting point for the shipping, maritime, port and fisheries industries, with opportunities to analyse and discuss current experiences and share knowledge on a global scale. Many of the seminars arranged are international in scope, such as "Offshore Support Vessels: More and More Complex and Efficient". This top-level seminar will feature outstanding speakers, including international ship-owners, an international broker, specialist designers, Spanish shipbuilders, a specialist classification company and a specialist ancillary industry company. The question of how new market trends and demands will affect our shipyards and ancillary industry will be discussed in the context of three highly interesting topics: trends in the construction of new vessels, latest technologies in equipment and systems and increasing environmental and safety demands. The fair will also be hosting the annual conference and governing board meeting of CIRM (Comité International Radio-Maritime), the world's most prestigious event in the field of naval electronics, which will be opened by Esteban Pachá, General Manager of IMSO (International Mobile Satellite Organisation). Future Port, an international meeting of the ports industry, is another high-profile international element of the fair. It will feature representatives of European, central Spanish and autonomous regional organisations, ports, shipping companies, universities and international engineering firms. It has the backing of the Bilbao Port Authority, Uniport, the Basque Government, Azti and the Institute of Civil, Canal and Port Engineers, among others. The two main thematic areas discussed will be "More Productive Port Logistics" and "Towards More Sustainable Ports". Completing the international line-up will be a meeting of COAPROA (the Shipyard Supply Coordination Association), the presentation of a network of support for SMEs under the name "Enterprise Europe Network", celebrations to mark the centenary of the "La Naval" shipyard in Sestao and the General Assembly of the Spanish Maritime Cluster. In the field of fisheries the main attractions are a meeting of the South Western Waters Regional Advisory Committee, the General Assembly and Governing Board meeting of FEICOPESCA (Spanish Federation of Associations of Fisheries and Aquaculture Product Processors and Marketers), a Governing Board meeting of and seminar by CEPESCA (Spanish Fisheries Confederation), Europe's biggest organisation in this sector, which will be discussing "Qualifications, Training and Minimum Crew Requirements". Energy efficiency in fishing vessels will also be discussed specifically at SINAVAL-EUROFISHING, in a seminar at which those regional autonomous communities with an interest in fishing will present projects at the invitation of the Basque Government, under the auspices of the European Fisheries Fund, organised by AZTI-Tecnalia. Concurrently, seeking to take advantage of thematic synergies, the official presentation will be held of the Cousteau Foundation Guide to energy saving, which enjoys the support of the Spanish Fisheries Ministry. Following the excellent reception of the first brokerage event staged in 2007 a second event has been organised for this year, based on a top-level meeting between exhibitors and VIP visitors that mixes business with pleasure. Meanwhile, the agendas of participants in the 4th International Shipping Meetings, a brokerage event organised by the Basque Maritime Forum and SINAVAL-EUROFISHING and sponsored by the Department for Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, are currently being completed. This brokerage event features meetings intended to promote joint action, business to business co-operation and technology transfers with a view to making the shipping industry more competitive and strengthening its position on international markets. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Exhibition News :: home page |
