Chinaplas 2009

Jointly organized by China Plastics Processing Industry Association, China Plastic Machine Industry Association, Taipei World Trade Centre (TAITRA), Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, Guangdong Plastics Industry Association and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the Cross-Strait Plastics Industry Summit 2009 will be held on May 17 at Asia International Hotel, Guangzhou, PR China. The Summit is the first of this kind in cross-strait regions to exchange market updates, developments and challenges ahead of plastics industry. Industry professionals and practitioners can congregate in this prime occasion for new concepts, new experiences and new opportunities.

The Cross-Strait Plastics Industry Summit 2009 will be held concurrently with The 23rd International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries "Chinaplas 2009", the world-class tradeshow dedicated to plastics & rubber industries. Chinaplas 2009 will be staged at China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou from May 18-21, 2009, expecting 1, 900 exhibitors and more than 70,000 buyers around the world to attend. Combining the first-time cooperation in cross-strait plastics industry, as well as the strong influential power of Chinaplas, the Summit is sure to attract great industry attention and be the highlight of the year.

A heavyweight cast of speakers and figureheads from cross-strait plastics industry have been invited to share their valuable insights in 4 key topics, i.e. Overview of Cross-Strait Market Development Trends, Resources for a Successful Partnership, Challenges Facing the Development of the Plastics Industries in the Cross-Strait Markets, as well as Approaches to the Cross-Strait Collaboration & Success Stories. Delegates can explore the win-win strategies in cross-strait regions and to forge collaboration.

In the past 2 years, Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, the organizer of Chinaplas, has successfully held "China-India Plastics Industry Summit 2007" and "China-U.S. Plastics Industry Summit 2008". Both summits have been one of the highlighted activities in Chinaplas, aiming to promote the cooperation and development between China and India, as well as China and U.S.. Meanwhile, it offered an interactive platform for industry professionals to explore the latest technologies and discuss how to cope with the new challenges.

The success in past summits has proven that a highly-qualified program will be offered this year. Hence, Cross-Strait Plastics Industry Summit 2009 will proactively respond to the bright industry prospects in cross-strait regions and encourage the interactions in both markets. Reputable Taiwanese exhibitors in Chinaplas 2009 include Huarong, Victor Taichung, Fu Chun Shin, Shini, Formosa, Tung Yu, Jon Wai, Hwa Chin, Jing Day, Alfa, Fomtec, etc. Over 600 exhibitors from Mainland China are also participating this year.

Currently, China is the second largest plastics manufacturing base in the world, and the largest exporting market of plastics machinery in Taiwan. It truly reflects the huge potentials for Taiwan industry players to expand China market. Also, the active participation of group pavilion and buyers from Taiwan has formed a prominent part of Chinaplas. As a result, the Summit will further enhance the collaboration in cross-strait regions and foster the vast business opportunities for mutually-beneficial partnership.

Being one of the most important emerging industries in China's economy, plastics is the essential manufacturing and consumer goods in modern agriculture, commercial, transportation, aviation, green energy, as well as information technology and communication industries. China is now one of the largest consumer markets in plastic products worldwide, consuming over 40 millions tons of plastics per year. With the advantages of solid industry foundation, close geographical location and similar social culture, Taiwan will take the lead to grasp the market development in China.

The mature market, start-of-the-art technologies and management model in Taiwan will also give inspirations to China industry players. Besides, the total output of plastic products in the costal provinces of south-eastern China, including Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong, has represented over 65% of total national output. For years, Guangdong has taken the leading role among the 4 provinces. The massive demand for plastics in Guangdong has stimulated a dramatic rise in production volume every year and hence it ranked first in sales volume of plastics raw materials. As a result, Guangzhou is the best location for the Summit to attract key enterprises and industry leaders, forming a closer bond between China & Taiwan plastics industry.

Currently, the mild cross-straits relations, frequent cultural and economic interactions, as well as stable political condition have privileged the development of cross-strait plastic industry. Though global economy is facing tough times, plastics industry in China still maintains a stable growth in total output value with regard to its wide applications in various industries. The plastics industry indicates a prosperous future in long-term, while industry leaders are making efforts to promote the collaboration in cross-strait regions and create mutual benefits. Hence the Summit can enhance the information exchange and appreciations in cross-strait regions, bridging a solid foundation for prosperity. Industry players should firmly believe that it is now a good timing for industry adjustment and a bright future is ahead of us.
