Bta.Innovation has become a condition sine qua non for success in business. Bta 2009, in collaboration with IRTA – the Catalan acronym for the Agri-Food Research and Technology Institute – has developed an intensive programme of conferences and master classes focusing on innovation and technology, to be held 12 and 13 May 2009 as part of the Technological Innovation Conference. The core idea running through these sessions will be the practical application of R&D&I within the food and beverage industry. There will be a focus on new trends for the meat and fish sectors, both markets with a high degree of innovation: "Dynamic dryers. Towards greater consistency for products dried in piece form" and "New trends in preservation and packaging" will be among the titles of the sessions. The programme will be rounded off with subjects which are of interest to several different sectors, such as ingredients and refrigeration, among others. Attendees will be able to learn more about "Innovation in the food ingredients and additives sector" or "New indirect refrigeration system. Benefits for the food cold-storage industry", of great interest to the sector. A sustainable company is one which works for the benefit of a development model which seeks to successfully manage the balance between economic and social concerns and protecting the environment for the society in which it operates, contributing value. It obtains financial benefits from designing products and services which improve the quality of life of its customers, workers, suppliers and social communities, in general. With the collaboration of AECOC – Spanish acronym for the Spanish Commercial Coding Association – Bta. will be organising a Sustainability Conference during the exhibition to discover the keys to working towards a responsible, sustainable company. Business owners, managers, managing directors and marketing managers will be able to acquire new knowledge and provide their organisations with solutions in this area on 14 May 2009. The need to reach foreign markets is ongoing for businesses in the food and beverage equipment and technology sectors. The aim of Bta. is to make it easier for participating companies to achieve an international presence. For this reason the organisers Alimentaria Exhibitions, in collaboration with AMEC – Spanish acronym for the Multi-sector Business Association, is engaged in a campaign to attract importers which will translate into the presence of buyers from Europe, Asia and the Americas at the event. Technology Transfer Conference FITECIn addition, the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI in its Catalan acronym) will exhibit 200 m2 of the technological offerings of research centres and universities for the food sector at Bta. 2009, through FITEC, its trade fair and exhibition R&D&I space. FITEC will make information points on research centres and universities available to all agents with connections to the sector, as well as the Internet-based technology request service for companies, called Yo busco. They serve as a tool for improving European competitiveness by stimulating research, technological development and innovation. In addition, they coordinate public and private investment, as well as other community and national policies with the aim of concentrating efforts, reducing fragmentation and contributing to the European Research Space.
