| Globe-09 - The Tourism Hub The Mediterranean tourism market has a date for getting together and strengthening its position at Globe09, the professional B2B event that has now reached its third edition. Now more than ever it is the reference point for those working in the sector both nationally and abroad. Whilst Rome is the tourism capital in terms of its high visitor numbers from around the world, Globe has set itself the challenge of making it the centre of the professional tourism sector for southern Europe and the Mediterranean. Indeed it is a user area which, according to the World Tourism Organisation, will play an increasingly important role on the international scene, and will manage to attract 33% of all international tourism. Expoglobe, the company that holds a 51% share in the Fiera Roma expo centre and 49% of TTG Italia – Rimini Fiera Group – moved to the head offices of the Nuova Fiera new fair grounds in Rome last May, located between the Capital and Fiumicino international airport. Having reached a total of 12 this year, the Globe09 team has a new Exhibition Director, Simona Manzoni. Born in Rome and 45 years of age, she has a long career with the Alitalia group behind her and recently worked as a Marketing and External Relations Manager for the Romaeuropa Foundation. Manzoni has the vote of confidence of the MD of Expoglobe, Paolo Audino, with whom she has hared strategies and development plans. This year too, Globe09 is able to boast 800 international Buyers of the very highest level from 64 countries, a result that confirms Globe's position as the leading B2B fair for Italian tourism, with the largest number of Hosted Buyers. The interactive on line appointment system between Buyers and Sellers notched up 24,871 appointments in the course of the 2008 edition. Four pavilions with a surface area of 30 thousand square metres have already been confirmed for Globe 09. Three pavilions will be given over entirely to Incoming for the Mediterranean and, with representatives from the Regions and local promotional organisations. One pavilion will be entirely dedicated to the World Village, bringing together tourism bodies, airlines, large-scale tour operators and representatives from the hotel and cruise sector, in addition to professionals involved in culture, entertainment, the meeting industry, sport, wellness, technology, the web, marketing and communication. Globe09 will provide the perfect backdrop for the fourteenth edition of Art Cities Exchange, 's leading workshop in the cultural tourism sector.
