Nürnberg On Its Way To Becoming European Heat Pump City

The heat pump was one of the top issues at the successful Chillventa 2008, the International Trade Fair for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heat Pumps. After starting with the Heat Pump Symposium back in September 2007 and the highly successful Industrial Heat Pump Village during Chillventa 2008, NürnbergMesse is now developing this topical issue a stage further. Nürnberg on its way to becoming European Heat Pump City offers a new and for the first time joint dialogue platform for heat pump technology in the industrial, commercial, residential, heating & cooling, and components & equipment" segments. The heat pump success story in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg continues with the European Heat Pump Summit – Powered by Chillventa from 9-10 September 2009.

"Starting in 2009, the European Heat Pump Summit offers heat pump experts a top B-to-B forum in the years between Chillventa, " emphasizes Walter Hufnagel, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse. "The close cooperation with the honorary sponsors IEA-HPP, EHPA, bwp, DKV and IZW and with other national and international organizations will concentrate and strengthen the already well developed industry expertise."

The summit will discuss issues covering the whole field of heat pumps from research, development and production to practical planning, system integration and service. The focus is on innovations, with special attention devoted to the promotion of heat pumps and training. The European Heat Pump Summit includes lectures, workshops and seminars, plus a foyer show in the immediate area. This enables manufacturers, organizations, schools and science to present their products and services related to the current issues and lectures and discuss these with the participants.

The European Parliament accepted the compromise on the "Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources" with an overwhelming majority last December. For the first time under EU legislation, heat pumps are now accepted as well as wind power and solar systems as a technology suitable for using renewable energy sources.

The definitions for renewable energy sources have also been extended by aerothermal and hydrothermal in addition to geothermal energy. This decision by the EU shows the great importance of heat pumps and must now be utilized and promoted by the industry.

The European Heat Pump Summit offers speakers, exhibitors and especially technically and practically orientated participants the opportunity for a comprehensive exchange of views. "This helps the industry to successfully take up the great opportunities and the challenges for heat pumps at B-to-B level, " Walter Hufnagel is convinced.
