| Inhorgenta Europe 2009 Inhorgenta europe, the European trade fair for watches, jewelry, gemstones, pearls, and technology, will open its doors for the 36th time from February 20th to 23rd, 2009. In addition to an impressive selection of exhibits from the various segments, the 30,000 trade show visitors expected from all over the world can look forward to a comprehensive side event program. Multi-faceted trade seminars, special exhibitions, and panel discussions offer know-how for the upcoming season. Topics include everything from almost forgotten crafting techniques to the trends for 2009 / New for fans of the fine art of watch making: ‘Forum German Zeitgeist’. "We want to be more than just a market place. Our very detailed seminar program offers the visitors even more motivation, ideas, and knowledge to take home, " says Armin Wittmann, Exhibition Director inhorgenta europe. The program includes, for example, business-management seminars on strategies how to find new customers. In addition, experts will provide forecasts for the business year 2009, and will shed light on the latest jewelry, fashion, gemstone, and color trends. Technology aficionados will enjoy the special exhibition by Chronoswiss, "Fascination Craftsmanship", on rediscovered crafting techniques. Jochen Benzinger presents the art of skeletonizing, guilloche work, and engraving, on Saturday, February 21st, and Sunday, February 22nd, 2009 (hall B1.100). Furthermore, the Platinum Guild offers its "Tips and Tricks for Working with Platinum". The first "Watch Forum German Zeitgeist" will be held in hall A1.402 at inhorgenta europe. The event is designed specifically for manufacturers of mechanical watches. "In addition to the large and well-known luxury brands Germany also boasts a very distinguished guild of smaller watch manufacturers, " explains Armin Wittmann. Located in watch exhibition hall A1, visitors will be able to admire the extraordinary variety of modern watch making art, presented in elaborately designed showcases or at the manufacturers' booths, encouraging direct contact with the manufacturers. Among the exhibitors: Hemess from Glashütte i./Sa., represented by Jürgen Fritsch, Technical Director and one of Germany's most accredited watch experts; Botta Design from Königstein, with Klaus Botta, designer and inventor of the modern single-hand watch; as well as UTS from Munich. The "Forum German Zeitgeist" will also include live demonstrations of the detail-oriented craft. A chronometer testing booth provided by the Measurement Control and Calibration Testing Institute of the State of Thuringia completes the features of the new forum. The Platinum Forum in hall B1 has already established itself as a must for jewelry aficionados. The "Design Podium" with its many forums already enjoys legend status, located in the renowned design jewelry exhibition hall C2. This year, the newcomer forum "Brand New – New Brand" will once again be one of the highlights of inhorgenta Europe. It is the birthplace of the trends for the next season created by talented, up-and-coming young designers. There is no doubt: "C2" is considered a place where the entire industry looks for inspiration. Two important special exhibitions call attention to gemstone and pearl exhibition hall C1. "Bernd Munsteiner – Reflections in Stone" (hall C1.306), and the joint design academy project "Stone Matters 2" (hall C1.328A) provide creative input for one of the oldest crafts. A new feature in the program of inhorgenta europe is the exhibition Lucca Preziosa "Cutting the Mirror" in hall C2.100A/500A. The project by the most prominent modern jewelry design academy in Italy focuses on the highly complex theme of aesthetics in jewelry design. Another new event is the Media Award for Jewelry Culture. Initiated by the Institut für Schmuckkultur (Institute for Jewelry Culture), Ulm, in cooperation with a number of prominent exhibitors, the award provides motivation for journalists and authors to study and report on the appearance, content, and effect of modern jewelry (Feb. 20th, 2009, 5.00 pm, hall C2.140). The multi-faceted program selection is complemented by a new exhibition concept. inhorgenta europe 2009 presents veritable galaxies of jewels in showcases and special exhibits. Visitors will be awed by virtual representations of the rings of Saturn (hall B1), blazing comets (C2), and sparkling diamond stars (B2).
