New Military and Government Summit Featured at 2009 NAB SHOW

NAB announced the debut of the Military and Government Summit held April 21-23 during the NAB Show in Las Vegas. The program, produced in partnership with Harris, Raytheon, ITT, and other defense organizations, will feature keynote speaker Kevin P. Meiners of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (OUSD).The Summit's education program will be led by Commander Joseph A. Smith, U.S. Navy, Military Deputy Sensor Assimilation Division (ASX), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

"The Summit will unite government and non-government officials to examine the strong role video technology plays in military applications, " said Commander Smith. "As the world's largest digital media event, the NAB Show provides the perfect platform to examine this issue."

The program will identify ways in which government and military officials can utilize commercial video technologies for defense and emergency response applications. Government and non-government attendees will learn about next generation military applications through presentations, workshops and technical papers that examine emergency communications and government uses of broadcast technology. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn how to create successful partnerships with government organizations.

Meiners is a graduate of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Marymount University, Defense Systems Management College, Industrial College of the Armed Forces and Federal Executive Institute. He holds a Masters of Science Degree in management information systems and national resource strategy. Prior to joining OUSD, Meiners served as an electronics engineer, program manager and director of intelligence strategies within the United States Navy and the Pentagon.
