The 2009 Minneapolis Home and Garden Show

The 2009 Minneapolis Home and Garden Show will celebrate 75 years of bringing the newest ideas, products, trends and celebrities to Minneapolis when it opens its doors on March 4, 2009. "This year's Minneapolis Home and Garden Show will be bigger and better than ever, " said Jessica Boweak, show manager for the Minneapolis Home and Garden Show. "It will not only celebrate the 75 year history of the show, but it will be an amazing opportunity for people to get inspired for their spring and summer home improvement projects from the more than 700 exhibitors at the show."

HGTV stars Shane Tallant from "Design to Sell" and Summer Baltzer from "Design on a Dime" will be the featured celebrities along with local designer and green living guru Joshua Foss who will help show visitors how to make their homes more eco-friendly. As always, many of the hottest products will be on display for the tens of thousands of show attendees along Innovation Avenue and throughout the show floor, as will many cost saving ideas for those looking to remodel on a budget. The Home and Garden Show would not be complete without a collection of beautiful gardens and this year nine gardens will be at the center of the show and their themes will celebrate its 75 year history.

New to the show this year is "Ty Style" – a special section of the show featuring the newest and coolest products selected by Ty Pennington, spokesperson for the show producer, Marketplace Events*. Also new this year will be a pet area featuring the latest products and services for pets, and "In the City" – an area of the show that will focus on small space living trends. Mpls St. Paul Magazine is the new partner for this year's showcase home, known as the "Idea Home, " which will feature the latest trends in home design and will also be for sale to show attendees. Finally, Habitat for Humanity and its ReStore program have partnered with the Home and Garden Show for a silent auction where local students will artistically paint doors with proceeds of the auction benefiting Twin Cities Habitat ReStore – a retail outlet where quality new and like-new building materials are sold at discount prices.

Since 1934, the Minneapolis Home and Garden Show has been the place for home and garden enthusiasts to generate ideas, get home improvement tips and see the latest and greatest products for the home and garden. Throughout the 75 year history, the Home and Garden Show has brought in legendary celebrities including Liberace, Frank Sinatra Jr., Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Durante and more.
