The 2nd Çukurova Book Fair

The 2nd Çukurova Book Fair will be available for visiting between the 10th and 18th of January, 2009, at the TÜYAP Adana International Fair and Congress Centre.

The Adana-born humour writer Muzaffer İzgü, who has contributed to Turkish literature in general and children's literature in particular with over 70 books, is the guest of honour of the 2nd Çukurova Book Fair, and will attend many events and autograph sessions between the 10th and 14th of January.

Born in Adana on the 29th of October, 1933, Muzaffer İzgü completed his primary and secondary education in Adana, and graduated from the Diyarbakır Education School to become a teacher, a profession he lovingly continued until his retirement. He published his first book Gecekondu in 1970, and went on to publish a total of 42 novels and short story collections, as well as over 70 children's books.

The Çukurova Book Fair will host panel discussions and interviews on the life and works of Muzaffer İzgü, as well as his place in Turkish literature.

A multitude of events turns the Book Fair into a literary and cultural festival, where many prominent writers, poets and academics including Muzaffer İzgü, Doğan Hızlan, Füruzan, Zeynep Oral, Mahmut Makal, Talip Apaydın, Ataol Behramoğlu, Sennur Sezer, Alev Coşkun, Sevgi Özel, Mine G. Kırıkkanat, Deniz Kavukçuoğlu, Banu Avar, Mustafa Balbay, Server Tanilli, Şükrü Erbaş, Tarık Günersel, Özcan Karabulut, Haluk Gerger, Eugene Schoulgin and others will meet with their readers.

Visited by 146,000 readers last year, the Çukurova Book Fair and the concurrent 2nd Çukurova Education Fair may be visited between 10.30 am and 8.30 pm between the 10th and 17th of January, and between 10.30 am and 7.00 pm on the 18th of January.
