| Unified Wine & Grape Symposium 2009  This January thousands of wine and grape industry professionals will again gather at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium to see and learn about the latest equipment and services and hear from a collection of international speakers who will provide valuable information critical to the industry. The 2009 Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, which takes place at the Sacramento Convention Center Jan. 27–30, features a variety of informational sessions and a trade show that highlights the latest innovations in equipment and services available to the industry.New for 2009, an extra day has been added for the Aroma Symposium, a day long analysis of the origins of wine flavor and conversion of grape components to wine aromas with wine tasting. Speakers from several countries will discuss the effects of viticultural practices on flavor, including water deficit and crop loads on wine quality, the effects of ripening and composition on sensory attributes, vine microclimate effects on wine flavor, and influence of leaf removal on wine grape quality. On Tuesday through Thursday the Unified Symposium kicks off with a general session that delves into key aspects of the wine and grape industry. These sessions are filled with information important to everyone involved in the industry. This year's general sessions are: on Tuesday, Why Business is Embracing Sustainability; Wednesday, The State of the Industry; and on Thursday, Changing Trends in Changing Times! Each afternoon the Unified Symposium hosts smaller breakout sessions that target specific topics in the areas of: Grapegrowing; Winemaking; Business, Economics & Operations; and Marketing & Public Relations. The event also hosts the industry's largest trade show of its kind, with over 500 vendors from around the world displaying their products and services.
