London International Boat Show 2009

As the London International Boat Show prepares to return to ExCeL with a splash from 9-18 January 2009, National Boat Shows (NBS) is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Bloody Mary Open Pursuit Race. The race, now in its 36th year, is the largest inland dinghy event held in the UK and following tradition, will be held at the Queen Mary Sailing Club on the first Saturday (10 Jan) of the London International Boat Show. The Queen Mary Sailing Club is a premier inland dinghy and windsurfing club and has an active membership of over 1300 enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Among members are Olympic, international and national champions including double Olympic gold medalists Sarah Ayton and Sarah Webb.

This year, the London International Boat Show will be celebrating 55 years of bringing boating to the capital. Show organiser, Samantha Bryant comments: "NBS is delighted to be joining forces with the Bloody Mary Open Pursuit Race. We are fully committed to supporting the breadth of the marine industry, and enjoy getting involved with a variety of events such as this. The Bloody Mary is a fantastic race packed with excitement and is the ideal way to help kick-start the boating events calendar in the New Year."

Winners of the classes will be presented with a trophy, and will also be invited to the London International Boat Show in January. The Show offers fun for boating enthusiasts and novices alike; providing an excellent way to experience the thrills of the boating world.

Key attractions at this year's Show include: The Main Stage - Powered by Fairline, the main stage is the focal point of the Show, ideal for soaking up the atmosphere; Deck Games, supported by Yachts & Yachting, this feature gives visitors the opportunity to participate in canoeing, kayaking and model boat racing; Classic Boat, supported by Old Pulteney and International Paint, Classic Boat offers the chance to watch, learn and talk to experts about classic boats; The Show Regatta, boasting fast-paced Thundercat demonstrations; The Yachts & Yachting Battle of the Classes, a Pursuits Race providing a great finale to the Show on the final weekend.
