"Does Eco Have To Be Ugly?" Asks Germaine Greer At Ecobuild 2009

'New houses are universally horrible, and eco-houses are the most horrible of the lot.' So argued Germaine Greer in The Guardian this summer, a debate she will rejoin in the Arena at next year's Ecobuild when she asks, 'Do eco buildings have to be ugly?' Ecobuild runs from 3 – 5 March 2009 at London's Earls Court

It's just one of the challenging, entertaining and often controversial events taking place in the Arena at Ecobuild 2009, which will also see well-known figures including Michael Portillo, Dan Cruickshank and Matthew Parris take to the stage. The Arena provides lively debates, interviews and keynotes covering design, politics, science, philosophy, art and the environment.

Ecobuild 2009 will attract in excess of 30,000 visitors and the exhibition will feature 800 suppliers of sustainable construction products and services. Over 500 of the most highly-regarded speakers will present more than 100 conference and seminar sessions, all free to attend for registered visitors, and the inaugural UK Green Building Council Conference will also take place at Ecobuild in 2009.
