2009/2010 Home Textiles Season - High-end Decoration...

Heimtextil is the global benchmark for quality textiles of design and innovative functionality. Exhibitors from over 60 countries and their textile collections will be in the fair capital, Frankfurt am Main, from 14 to 17 January 2009. The home textiles range comprises decorating and furniture fabrics; curtains, blinds and high quality internal sun blinds, carpet and curtain solutions from famous manufacturers in-cluding Mira X, Nya Nordiska, Backhausen, ADO, TEBA, MHZ, Gardinia and Vorwerk, van Besouw, Object Carpet and Tisca.

"With Heimtextil, we are staking everything on attractively exhibiting relevant innovations and consumer trends to the industry at the first major marketing and ordering date of the year. As well as trend shows, the focus of our trade fair will be on themes like sustainability, surface and structure, the promotion of young designers and the mar-ket for commercially used textiles", explains Detlef Braun, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt.

High-end decoration and a new functionality make a comeback
Contemporary décor is an invitation to focus special attention on the theme of decoration in interior design. Within the framework of the AIT lecture series, the dialogue forum "Let's have a look" presents the theme in a general interior design context and in Hall 3.1 formulates "ornament as a promise". On the Thursday of the fair, a podium de-bate chaired by a panel of well-known experts from the world of archi-tecture and art, art critics and fashion, will deal with the renaissance of decoration, which now extends to architecture. Is decorative décor beautiful and wasteful or an established style tool which helps us ap-preciate a concept?

In cooperation with Heimtextil partner Material ConneXion Cologne, Messe Frankfurt is planning to hold a number of workshops in the lec-ture area, the tagline for which will be "material - light - structure". The workshops, which will be taking place on 14 and 16 January, will focus on the themes of "sustainability", "surface and structure", and will serve as a pool of ideas for concrete product innovations.

Wallpaper - a key interior design trend
Wallpaper, which is celebrating a comeback, will set the accent for stylish interiors again next year. Wall covering suppliers will be weav-ing their magic with impressive decors and new material concepts, ranging from wallpaper, wall coverings, plaster to wallpaper and paint combinations. The industry is revelling in both unparalleled variety and high demand from the contract furnishing and homestyle sector. Ulrike Wechsung, Director Textile Fairs: "Wallpaper is a key theme at Heimtextil. We are delighted that we also have the opportunity to convert this product world into a theme for newcomers with an attrac-tive special show. In 2009, young designers will be competing for the first time in a wall design contest."

Promoting young designers at Heimtextil 2009
In partnership with magazine Hotelbau and Villeroy & Boch, the focal point of the trade fair will for the first time be the theme of wall design (internal and external) for the contract furnishing sector, product-group-wide in a functionality and design context, with its newly cre-ated "Young Contract Creations Award: Wall".

The young talents award will be turning the spotlight on design capi-tals of the world. For 2009, the partner city of Marrakesh was the in-spiration for the young designers. One of the special features of this competition is the interaction between craftsmanship and design. The designs submitted, currently over 50 of them, will be presented live at a special show on Level 5.0.

In 2009, the "Young Contract Creations Award: Upholstery" design prize, successfully launched last year, will once again be announced by Messe Frankfurt and their partners, fibre manufacturers Trevira and trade publication "PolsterFashion". In terms of orientation, the content relates to catering multiples in general and three themes in particular, namely coffee bars, American Diners und International Cooking. The prototypes for the creative work on display at the spe-cially conceived showcase in Hall 4.1 will be an inspiration to both exhibitors and the trade public.

For Heimtextil, promoting industry newcomers is a key concern. For example, the cooperation with 'rooms for free e.V.' Chemnitz, which links together university institutes across Europe, will be back again next year. The special show "campus" will present innovative ideas and new products from the professionals of tomorrow in Hall 1.1.

Contract Creations: the market for contract furnishing textiles
With its Contract Creations show Heimtextil offers the contract sector clear guidance in all facets of interior textile furnishings. The trade fair will be creating a dedicated homepage for this booming market.

The website www.contact-contract.com allows contract furnishers to prepare for Heimtextil in the best, most effective way. With exclusive articles featuring completed and planned contract furnishing projects and an industry guide of over 350 Heimtextil contract furnishing textile suppliers, the internet page offers the trade public an overview of the Heimtextil contract business range before the fair even opens. The "Contract Guide" contains these 350 or more contract furnishing tex-tile suppliers in printed form, as a fair guide. In Hall 3.1, lectures, seminars, workshops and "Let's have a look" relate directly to this growing segment.

Visitors will be able to identify contract furnishing textile exhibitors by the tried and tested Contract Creations Signet, which indicates the relevant suppliers in the halls by means of a carpet inlay.

Trend Show in the Forum
For the first time, Heimtextil-Trend 2008/09 will comprise six trend statements, which are traditionally presented at the Messe Frankfurt Forum. The Trendtable, with its international line-up, which will for the first time bring together designers from the Netherlands, France, Great Britain, Italy, Germany and Japan at the same table, has bun-dled the latest fashion, design and architectural trends for Heimtextil exhibitors and visitors.

This year, stijlinstitut amsterdam has been in overall charge of the Trendbook and has designed and realised a new format. The Trendbook is now available in magazine format, with a detachable trend poster, which serves as a clear, transparent colour card and basis for the work of designers. In 2009, the Dutch style agency will also be staging the trend show in the Forum at Heimtextil. Apart from the show, international experts will also be giving lectures on themes like international trends, the future direction of retailing, interiors 2010 and inspiration & innovation based on the motto "Ex-pect the unexpected".

In partnership with trade publication AiT, the "Architecture and Textile Prize for Innovation", will for the fifth time be judging and honouring the architectural qualities of textile products and spatial solutions. These innovative products and other Heimtextil innovations in Hall 4.1 will act as an inspiration to trade visitors.

The Sun Café on Level 4.2 invites all visitors to take a break from everyday fair activities. A fair visit will be an experience, even during a break, thanks to a show featuring innovative sun-screening prod-ucts.
