Ideas And Solutions For Industry: Hannover Messe 2009

Hannover Messe 2009 has its sights set firmly on the future. The ideas and solutions on show at the 13 flagship shows that make up Hannover Messe will combine to create a unique platform for innovation. Key issues in 2009 will be automation, energy, mobility, outsourcing, and talented young human resources. The overarching theme will be energy efficiency in industrial processes. 2009 will see the premiere of the new international trade show "Wind". From 20 to 24 April 2009 all the major industrial sectors will be showcasing their products and processes.

Hannover Messe will function as the trendsetter for all areas of application. The 2009 Partner Country will be the Republic of Korea, one of the world's 15 leading industrial nations. The high number of registrations indicates that the thematic mix of Hannover Messe is exactly right. It is already clear that the entire Exhibition Grounds will be fully booked. Hannover Messe 2009 will be officially opened by Chancellor Angela Merkel on the evening of 19 April.

The Hannover Messe portfolio comprises INTERKAMA+, Factory Automation, Industrial Building Automation, Digital Factory, Subcontracting, Energy, Power Plant Technology, Micro Technology and Research & Technology. In 2009 these annual events will be augmented by Motion, Drive & Automation, Surface Technology and ComVac, which are staged at two-yearly intervals. The wind power industry has responded very favourably to the creation of "Wind", which will also take place every two years. The premiere of this new wind energy show will profit from the fact that power transmission exhibitors will be located right next door. Indeed, all the exhibitors in Hall 27 will be able to capitalize on the wide-ranging synergies between Energy, Wind, Power Plant Technology and Motion, Drive & Automation.

"Wind" is symptomatic of the concept of cross-industry networking that defines Hannover Messe. The Fair breaks down the traditional boundaries between industrial sectors and explores the potential of interlinked technologies. At the same time each industrial sector has an opportunity to present its products and services in the context of practical applications. "Hannover Messe sends out stimuli to all areas of industry and demonstrates that integration and networking are the keys to future success, " emphasizes Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Messe AG. "We offer industry an innovations platform that is in tune with current developments, generates a significant impact, and reaches out to a broad international audience."

Energy and climate protection will be the dominant issues in 2009. In recent years Hannover Messe has become a central showcase for energy technology. Renewables and conventional energy sources receive equal coverage. Energy and energy efficiency will be recurrent themes in all sections of Hannover Messe 2009., while mobility is commanding ever-greater attention. At Motion, Drive & Automation car-makers and component suppliers will join forces to present the latest electric transmission systems at a special presentation entitled "E-Motive".

The spotlight here will be on electrifying the drive trains of vehicles and mobile machinery. The line-up will include hybrid solutions as well as all-electric systems. These universally applicable, zero-emission drive systems can be coupled with various primary energy sources - above all with renewables. The trade shows "Energy" and "Industrial Automation" will likewise feature a number of different presentations focussing on energy-efficient mobility - for example, "Clean Moves Expo", "Hydrogen + Fuel Cells", the presentation by the German Renewable Energy Association (BEE) and "Mobile Robots and Autonomous Systems".

"From the viewpoint of the mechanical engineering industry - Germany's number-one driving force in the field of environmental technology and energy efficiency - HANNOVER MESSE provides a decisive platform for communication with customers, " emphasizes Hartmut Rauen, who sits on the Executive Board of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). "Here in Hannover we can communicate with a global audience. We look forward to conducting thousands of talks with visitors from all over the world."

Taking place for the third time in Hannover, the TectoYou initiative encourages young people to opt for industrial training and technical university courses. During HANNOVER MESSE school pupils and university students will have an excellent opportunity to meet potential employers from a wide range of business sectors. For their part these employers will have the chance to raise public awareness of their fascinating technological developments. The defining feature of TectoYou is the program of themed guided tours at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds. A major highlight in this context will be the display category Mobile Robots & Autonomous Systems, which proved to be an instant hit with the visiting public at its debut in 2008. In the coming year the spotlight in Hall 22 will be on smart systems and components for industry, the public sector and the services sector. Mobile Robots & Autonomous Systems will be augmented by the RoboCup German Open, which features teams of high-tech soccer-playing robots.

Around 2,000 congresses, discussion forums, seminars and workshops will be taking place during HANNOVER MESSE 2009. These supporting events will provide an outstanding opportunity to tune into tomorrow's trends and to capitalize on the free flow of information between decision-makers in business, politics and industry. The World Energy Dialogue will attract a high degree of international attention. Chaired by the climate protection expert Professor Dr. Klaus Töpfer, this high-profile congress will centre on sustainable future energy supplies.
