OSEA2008

OSEA, Asia's largest oil and gas exploration and production industry exhibition and conference, will feature a record 21,600 square metres of exhibition space this year, representing a remarkable 80 percent growth over the last show in 2006. Established since 1979, the biennial event is one of the most recognised industry events in Asia. OSEA2008 will be held from 2 – 5 December 2008 at Suntec Singapore.

Buoyed by the surging global demand for energy, oil and gas exploration and production have gone into overdrive to keep pace with developments. Unprecedented oil prices in the past year have propelled extraction and production at previously commercially-unviable sources of oil and gas. Notably, Asia-Pacific is expected to lead the world in total offshore oil and gas spending. A study by MacKay Consultants of Scotland showed that by 2009, the Asia Pacific will account for US$30.5 billion worth of oil and gas exploration and production expenditure.

Located strategically in Singapore, Asia's largest oil and gas supply base and technology hub, OSEA2008 is expected to bring together 1,400 leading exhibiting companies from 49 countries to cater to the needs of the burgeoning operation in the regions of the Pacific, Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean. 25 percent of these exhibitors are Singaporean-based companies while 75 percent are from overseas. 14 national and regional group pavilions will also be on show.

On hand to showcase the latest technologies and solutions in offshore exploration, recovery, transport, and processing are market leaders such as Ameron, Aker Yards, Bureau Veritas, Dockwise, EATON, Fluor Corporation, FUGRO, Global Industries, Global Process System, Halliburton, IHC Merwede, Keppel Fels, Kongsberg Maritime, McDermott, Mustang, Lloyds, Nortechs FPSO, Swiber, Prosafe Production Services, Technip Subsea 7 Asia Pacific, Tyco Thermal Controls, Parker Hannifin Singapore.

OSEA2008 not only serves as a one-stop sourcing ground for regional exploration and production operations, it also acts as a global business networking platform for the industry. 16,000 business and thought leaders, industry professionals and government officials from over 60 countries are expected to attend the event.

The OSEA2008 International Conference will address the immediate issues faced by the industry as a consequence of rising demand and prices for oil. As oil companies look further afield in search of untapped offshore resources, emerging technologies will play an increasingly important role. Over 40 industry thought leaders and business luminaries will share their expert knowledge on relevant topics in three comprehensive tracks at the conference - exploration, production, and gas technology and recovery.

"OSEA2008's growth has positioned the event well to meet the spike in demand by the oil and gas companies as they capitalise on the opportunities on offer in the Asia Pacific, " says Mr Tee Boon Teong, Project Director for OSEA at Singapore Exibition Services. "The event is a timely regional platform for constructive technology and market intelligence exchange, as well as business networking among the business and trade professionals in the industry."
