Registration Deadline For If Product Design Award 2009

iF product design award confirms key international status. Slight growth in number of entries received, with submissions coming in from 39 nations (2008: 35). "More and more companies, particularly the major participating corporations and brands, are conducting there own internal elimination processes to ensure they appear with a qualitatively superior starting field", reports iF Managing Director Ralph Wiegmann, adding: "We are delighted at the renewed strong response to our product design competition as well as the trust placed in us by our clients. We are committed to offering a fair and above all thorough competition — something that is ensured by a total of 30 jurors, each of them a recognized expert worldwide".

Chaired by Fritz Frenkler, the jury will convene from November 18-20 at the Hannover exhibition center to adjudicate the competition.

In existence since 1953, the tradition-rich competition has now been expanded to include a total of 16 categories Transportation Design; Leisure / Lifestyle; Audio / Video; Telecommunications; Computers; Office / Business; Lighting; Furniture/Home; Household; Bathroom / Wellness; Buildings; Public Design / Interior Design; Medicine / Health + Care; Industry / Skilled Trades; Special Vehicles / Construction / Agriculture; Advanced Studies.

The category of Advanced Studies has become a full-fledged competition category for the first time, meaning that it is now possible for general award winners in this category to also receive a coveted iF gold award.

The awards ceremony and presentation of the 50 iF gold awards will take place on the first day of CeBIT, March 3, 2009, General award winners — i.e. excluding iF gold award winners — will be announced at the beginning of December.
