BAU: The Future Of Building-Dialog Between Architects And Industry

What does the future of building have in store, and what will the dialog between architecture and the industry look like in the future? Answers to these and other questions will be available at BAU 2009, which features two first-rate forums addressing architects, planners, project developers and engineers. The new Future of Building Forum will be in Hall C2. Its revolves around the BAU slogan of the same name and will be broken down into six key themes that will have a definite influence on planning and design over the next ten years, i.e. megacities, energy and architecture, living today and tomorrow, solar construction, innovation and automation in architecture, and emerging stars. BAU is organizing this forum in conjunction with the German Architectural Association and "Bauverlag" in Gütersloh. The forum also enjoys the support of "Informationszentrum Beton", Saint-Gobain Isover and "Deutschen Steinzeug Agrob-Buchtal".

The MacroArchitecture Forum in Hall A6 focuses on the dialog between architects and the industry. Architects and company representatives will make presentations, introduce a joint project and report on the status of their collaborative efforts. Major topics include interior work and interior design.

The forum focuses on a different topic on each day of the fair, as follows: materials and products, color and ornaments, surface and innovation, building and detail, facade and fiction, and architecture and responsibility. BAU's project partners are the architectural trade journal "AIT" and the German Interior Design Association. The MacroArchitecture Forum will showcase innovative materials from "Egger Holzwerkstoffe", and high-quality equipment from "bulthaup" will lend the cafe a special ambiance.

The guests speaking at both forums are predominantly renowned architects, planners and building engineers. Each main theme also features different lectures on each day of the fair: Well-known names at the Future of Building Forum include architects Prof. Albert Speer (planned lecture: "Megacities in China"), Prof. Werner Sobek ("Sustainable Building"), Wolf D. Prix ("BMW Welt"), Volkwin Marg ("Infrastructure Works of the Future"), Prof. Thomas Herzog und David Chipperfield ("Visionary Architecture").

On the second day of the fair, the MacroArchitecture Forum will feature a discussion between "Remmers Baustofftechnik GmbH" and the architectural firm "agn Niederberghaus & Partner GmbH" on the topic "Between freedom, desire and reality". On the fifth day of the fair, "Eternit AG" and "DKO Architekten", Berlin, will make a joint presentation on "Tailor-made solutions for builders with identity – A dialog between architects and builders".

Both forums will furnish audience members with plenty of information, but their lounge-like character also invites visitors to take a break and relax. Together with first-rate coffee bars, they serve as meeting points and communications centers for the target groups in question.

Detailed information regarding the topics and speakers at both forums is available online at www.bau-muenchen.com.
